Hi Tracy.
I waited nearly 3 weeks for my core's so I am not surprised on that score..I actually called the secretary to move things along. What happens is your results come back from path lab then they are discussed at a meeting attended by various medics incl your consultant, before you are called in for your results, usually within a couple of days. You may have been called to Queens simply because your consultant sees his patients there rather than Victoria? As for waiting for medication on discharge, I know this can seem to take forever, but that's pretty much the same procedure in all hospitals from what I have heard.
I had a mastectomy Tracy. I have to tell you it was nowhere near as scary as waiting for those bloody core results though - I know how anxious you are right now, and there's nothing I can say to make you feel any easier. Right now you don't even know if you need to go into hospital but if you do please believe me that it is not as bad as you think. I was paranoid about going into Queens and I toyed with going private but am so glad I didn't. You will go onto a surgical ward (if you need surgery) and you will share with a max of 3 other women. You will have your own wet room/bathrom, tv/radio and be able to use your mobile as you wish. Even the food is ok! And when you are feeling up to it you can go downstairs to the cafe or a wander outside in the evening.
But don't think about hospital now - you may not even need to go. If I can help you with anything else, just yell.
PS: Edited to say that you are quite within your rights to change your consultant at any time if you don't feel comfortable with the one you have - but don't be too rash, do some homework first and get some recommendations before doing so
