Hi I am 6 weeks post stacked diep reconstruction. ( original mastectomy 2008 34 years old. )I was back driving at 4 weeks and plan to ride my horses at about 12 weeks. I have also booked in on a equine horse simulator with a Physio for 2 weeks time so I can see how I feel before I get on an unpredictable horse. I must admit the week following my surgery I didn't think I could ever ride again, but that soon passed and I now muck out 2 horses everyday and turnout and lift water buckets. Hope this helps. ... Hi, I also have been on tamoxifen for 5 years and have been told that I will carry on for a further 5 years. 😞 , also had full mast, chemo, rad, herceptin/lapatinib trial, zoladex. Both my hips get very painful especially to touch don't take any pain meds some days it does hinder me as I feel so tired and sore. People expect you to be over everything just cause its been 51/2 years since this crappy journey began. I am back at work , working 3 shifts inc nights. 2 kids 14 and 12, a wonderful husband ( who sometimes doesn't get that I still get tired) and my escape which is my horses. Hi, I too am on the lapatinib trial i started in dec 08, i got the arm 3 which is 12 weeks of herceptin at weekly intervals then a 6 wk break and a wk and a half ago i started my 34 wks of lapatinb,so far i feel ok but have had a rash on my face with is quite spotty and they dont't know how to treat it yet. Hi, jal777 I haven't posted on here for a while, i am due to start the Herceptin/lapatinib trial at the end of august when my chemo finishes. I decided to go a head with the trial because it may offer a better protection to the brain if i get the lapatinib drug, and i hope it will mean a few more check ups and scans etc to check its not spreading. Hi Karen, 1 st treatment went ok was feeling sick for a couple of days seem to be over it now, Yes i have started to get used to my hair, a bit easier to manage now, just wondfering when it will fall out. going to get wig this week. Hi, My local M & S said that they could order me multiple sizes of several bra,s so i could try them with no obligation to buy any which i thought was great. I would also be interested in doing trials for them i had right mast and am 34 D and want nice bra,s and sports bra,s as i have horses to ride and don,t want them falling out( false boob ). Hi, karen sorry it seems i missed this message, starting chemo on wed 20th feb 4x epi then 4 x cmf, then rads not been told how many yet, then herceptin 12mths and tax 5 yrs as er + and pr +. When do see your oncologist ? feeling a bit down just had my loverly hair cut was half way down my back, now i look like a boy had it cut really short so the kids could get used to it before it falls out but now regreting it. Hi, ALL Just to let you all know saw my oncologist yersterday and she confirmed my treatment plan. Chemo starts on 20th jan 4 x Epirubicin then 4 x CMF Rads (not sure how many but after chemo finished Herceptin for 12 mths tamofin 5 years She also confirmed i was both ER & PR positive. 100% for both Margaret thanks for pointing out that web site it was very useful. Hi, Sorry to but in but could someone clarify what cording is. i had right mast and full node clearance on 17/01 08 i carn't fully stretch my arm yet and can feel and see what looks like a couple of string bits just under the skin were my armpit is when i try to stretch my arm,up is they feel really tight (is this cording) and is this what my bc nurse said need to snap. How long does it take to get back to full mobility the bc nurse said i should be nearly there now ( only 3wks post op ) Thanks Mandy xx ... View more

Hi, I am really sorry you have had to join us, but you will find a lot of support here. My situation is a little like yours i am 34 two children 9 and 6 years,I had a right mastectomy on 17/01/08 just waiting to see what treatment i am having next,by the way i was grade 2 aswell. I think everyone handles this differently but i am glad she is staying positive i find the waiting the hardest. As to telling your children i think its when you feel they are ready to know, i told my children straight away so they could ask me questions and not bottle anything up, but thats how i feel about it and my kids have been great. But we are all different and it may not be practical for your children to know yet. It sounds like you are very supportive already just let her know she can talk to you. hope this helps. Hi shonagh Thanks it does help, everything is so confusing i always forget loads of thing to ask or never the right questions even though i take a list. i think it definate i am having rads as they said not to have recon till later on as the skin is affected and will have to use own body fat and not implants. love mandy xxx ...
