Just wondering if any of you lovely ladies can give me some info. Although I am on here in my own right, its about my mum who has just been diagnosed with one spot of secondary on a rib. She had her first lot of paminodrate on Thursday along with herceptin and she has been told that this will continue in a three week cycle indefinitely. BUT, she has been feeling totally rubbish since then, sick, aching, feverish but no temperature. She has been taking paracetamol but no-one warned her that she may feel this bad and she is obviously thinking that she doesnt want go through this every three weeks indefinitely. She didnt have problems with Herceptin previously. Does anyone know if this is a typical reaction?, how long it will last?, will it be the same every time Any pearls of wisdom or comfort I can offer her would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jules

Hi Megsmum I used the cold cap and it worked really well for me. My hair was pretty thick to start, and I had it cut sortish to start, but 7 weeks after 6 FEC no one would know I had chemo. I did shed some hair throughout so it does feel thinner to me , but looks fine to everyone else. Good luck Jules X

Oh Simone, that's 'carp' about the toe nail (hugs). given mine a wiggle and they seem ok for now. I am going to ask about delaying a week too, why not, I don't want this rubbish spoiling crimbo. I'm not near Bradford unfortunately so no crazy aunts for me, I will expect a hilarious recount of events after though.

Hey Dizzy, so glad you are back, I was wondering where you had gone. Brilliant that you have finally been able start chemo again, hopefully it will go smoothly from here. Clare, like I said before, I reckon weepiness is a physical se of the poisons just like nausea or whatever, not just a psychological se of the journey we are on. You are a very strong and upbeat person, that is obvious from your postings, just be gentle with yourself, no 3 done now, yay. Simone, can I come for lunch with your aunts? I am due FEC 4 on 23 dec and know that I will probably spend crimbo feeling rubbish. Am actually secretly hoping that I will be delayed a week for some reason. Hey peeps, Tonight I am cosied up in my I love NY Jammies, my favourites. Also got a real fire going, can't beat it. I have received an appointment for a second echo on my heart, the first was fine so not sure what this is for. I was just wondering if anyone else has been for further scans, I'm thinking it's just to make sure chemo isn't doing any damage to my heart, I've had 3 FEC so far. Hope all you girls are doing ok. Hey pj posse, Clare, I'm sorry you have been feeling low, I do think it's the poisons, I too have been thinking very dark thoughts about things that I am trying to put behind me, I can't seem to shake them off just now. Nats, my chemo is also precautionary so if at any time the risks outweigh any possible benefits then it's definitely time to stop. Simone, hope it all goes well tomorrow, you do exactly what you want in terms of wig/scarf etc and how long you stay. There will be people there who don't see you often I expect and they will want to know how you are, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that and doesn't mean it will distract from why you are all together. Sozza, I have to say my hair was very very thick to start with. When I had my first FEC there was a women on her last one and she had gone thin, too thin to go without a hat I think BUT, she was happy that she would not have to start from scratch to grow her hair, she could have a short cut and the new hair could gradually blend in. You could try carrying on with the cap, at least you will have some hair under your hat, although it's not pleasant is it, I don't look forward to wearing it every time. Good luck hunny Jules Xx
