Hi Peabea, I havent seen BCN since ever. I am mostly treated by my surgeon. My onco's registerar sees me every 6 months. I have had a bad year with treatment. I have tried to delay a laproscopy due to work issues and I have been told I am being difficult??? It is difficult to get through these things. thanks

Cherryred I am so glad to hear that you are doing well, it gives me hope. I had a 8cm tumor and my Oncologist said why would you want kids when you have such a big cancer 😞 I did go trough a lot of treatment, and it gets you down as you think I was fine before. I could have lived with cancer for a while.

Hi All I was diagnosed in June 2011. I had chemotherapy, double mastectomy and radiotherapy. I had two operation to replace and then to remove implant. Several infection in initial cancer site. Lymphodema in left arm, muscle damage in right arm etc. I had severe pain after coitus and I had a scan done and saw a gyno. I have a cyst and a fibroid. My periods were extinct till this may and then I had double period last month, no period as yet this month. Pain is dull and my tummy is slightly swollen. I have been told that its benign and tumor markers are normal. Wall is 7mm. However, I have been booked in for Laproscopy next month ( I will ask them to change date as my work is not giving me time off) I spoke to my surgeon and he said he can remove my ovaries. I am barely 40 and do want my ovaries and uterus to stay intact as long as possible. I would like to know how serious is this. As mentioned before, I have had two operations and I am exhausted about this. I am also thinking of stopping Tomoxcefin to reduce the risk. Has anyone gone through this. Can I leave it alone for a few months. Anyone in similar circumstance please help as I am reading stuff on internet which is quite scary. My pain is not too bad as I am eating a lot of fiber and wearing loose clothe. I have put on a little weight nothing major. I am sweating lots and its uncomfortable at night. Any answer is welcome x

I had double mastectomy in Nov 2011. This year I had implant replacement. They had to remove the left immplant due to infection. I still have infection and a weeping wounds which I dress every morning . I have been on antibiotics for last 3 months and now my surgeon says to wait and it will take time to heal.
Its quite upsetting to get up every morning hoping that the infection has dried up only to find wet bandages.
I am just pryaing it heals fast and I can move on.

Hi Elinda, thanks for your message.
I had the fibriod before, it was tiny and there wasnt any issue. Ovarian cyst is new, scan showed thick lining and large cyst. The technicain said it looks harmless.
I have recently had periods and I started bleeding heavily after 2 weeks ( i got my dates wrong)
I saw the gynae couple weeks before and she took a sample. My cervical test was clean I had it this year. The gyne appt is agian on 14 August. The will do a scan again to see the progress of cyst and lining.
I have recently had a major change in my sleeping and eating pattern. I wasnt geting enough sleep (4/6 hours in 1/4 hours slots) I wasnt eating well. I eat a lot of fruit but wasnt able to cook fresh. Work and life has been very stressful.7
I am trying to change the sleeping pattern and food so I can reduce the stress. I need a holiday and a complete break from my surrounding.
I will be seeing my GP soon and will discuss this with him. He can only do a referrel.

I have been on tomoxifen for a year now. I have recently had problems with periods, bleeding, Ovarin cyst and thick lining. You dont know what side effect you will get till you start taking it. Tomoxifen decreases breast cancer risk however it increases ovarian cancer risk .

Hi, I was diagonosed in June 2011, double mastectomy, a year on tomoxifen. I have had two more operation to replace and remove implant. I still have fluid coming out of my scar.
I went for a scan as I had severe abdominal pains. I have a fibriod and a ovarian cyst. Obgyn said its thicking of lining which is in normal range 7mm. They took a sample and told me to come back.
I have had really irregualr period, however, this june they started again. I never had extra bleeding or spotting. Now I am bleeding exactly 3 weeks after my period, I amvery very worried.
I was told by my surgeon that they can remove my ovaries through keyhole surgery and its not a bother, I dont want my ovaries removed.
I am about 40 years old and I dont want my ovaries removed. I have asked if I can stop taking tomoxifen and they said no.

Thank you very much for your messages. I am still oozing fluids from the scar. I have seen my breast surgeon twice this week. He enlarged the hole today and place a wick inside it to keep it open. This will ensure all the fluid come out quickly and the cavity can heal. He told me not to panic and as it can take time to heal after 3 operation, radiotherapy etc. He has asked me to keep my arm elevated and it has brought the swelling down.
I have had a sccan which shows one fibriod which has doubled in size. I have an ovarian cyst. I have very irregular periods. However, I am now bleeing again after extacly 3 weeks. I dont even know what to worry about, my leaking chest or the bleeind. Its 10 days earl and considering the fact that I only started getting periods in June is worrying.
I have been told tomoxifen can cause this and they can remove my ovaries ??/
When does all this stop and is there some one in my position. I am thinking of stopping Tomoxifen completely.

Hi All
My scar has opened up again and fluid is oozing out. Its quite a bit in the morning when I wake up. I saw my surgeon on friday and he told me everything was fine. I need to elevate my arma nd do exercises?????
He examined the scar and said it was healing fine.
The scar developed a hole and started oozing. Its clear fluid and some crusty yellow stuff like crystalized water.
Ah well gotto try and go back, its nightmare trying to get appt.

I did get acall from a BCN who is not my BCN however, she remembers me well and decided to check on me after I left several messages. (she is leaving soon) She tried to get me an earlier appt, however there was nothing available so I have to wait till 26th July to see my surgeon.
I also have to go through scan as I now have a ovarian cyst and my endometris is quite think. Things dont stop. I was told I dont have a clot but if I have one there are no appt and no one can treat me.
I am going to wait till 26th July and see how things go. The pain in my arm is quite bad at times.

Hi all,
I went to A&E yesterday, first to St Marys waited there for 3 hours to be told by a doctor that I need to go to Charring Cross as they no longer have breast services??? There is Patterson Center next door which is one stop clinic for Breast Services however, ppl after treatment are not allowed appt there. She also said I might have cellulitist or a clot.
I self disccharge went home took a shower and went to Charring Cross which is v far from my house. I waited there for another 4 hours to be told that they have no breast doctors so I saw aVascular surgeon and a very nice junior surgeon. They offer to admit me to do a scan in the morning I refuse politely. COnclusion
I have nerve damage due to radiotherapy and its not reversibal. They can prescribe pain killers, however, they will not be able to do anything. I was never made aware of it. My scar is black but they think its fine and pain is normal. They also advice that I go see my surgeon.
My arm is still swollen and pain is quite bad at time. It is normal in color and I have almost full function. My fingers are numb and tingling.
Pls let me know if there is anyway to reducce the swelling and to reverse the nerve damage. I am quite young and am force to work full time due to financial constraint.
There must be a treatment and did they kill my nerves during the latest operation.

Ok my post just dissappeared???
I had double mastectomy in nov 2013, implant replacement feb 2013 due to infection. I had another infection in left breast area and had the implant taken out in June 2013. I had the last stitches taken out yesterday. I am now implant less.
I have now developed swelling in my left hand, its painfull and scary. I did not think it will get this bad.
I have put the pressure stocking for legs on my arm and hand hoping it will bring the swelling down.
Can I go to A&E and will they be able to help me???
Any suggestions pls

Hi, I dont know how to post a new topic on this forum. So here goes
I had the implant replacement in feb 2013. I went through a lot of trauma and stress. In the first week of June 2013 the skin on original cancer site started going black around scar. I notice a small disccharge so I went to my GP, got some antibiotics for a week. It did not help and GP refered me to the breast surgeon.
I manage to take an appointment and saw him on friday and he immeidately admitted me to the hospital ( long story) They gave me Agmentun and Agentamisn intravenousy. The hole started leaking lots of fluid and I mean a lot.
I saw the doctor again on monday and had a scan. I had the operation done to remove the implant completely. I am now without an implant on my left side.
My questions are:
What happened??? as I had fresh implant in feb 13 and its been four months.
How did I get an infection when I was very careful.
As left side was treated with radiotherapy, will this happen again. Is the skin viable for another implant.
How long do I wait to get the implant back in. Surgeon said 5/6 weeks but I am not sure.
I have had three operation by now. Isnt the breast cancer nurse suppose to come and have a chat with you??? I am only asking this as I saw a nurse talkign to a patient wh o has mastectomy. No one has spoken to me.
Surgeon asked me to talk to the brest nurse so that I can get measured. Ward nurses couldnt fine them and when I went looking, they were a bit offish ???? normal ???
Surely the fact that someone is without an implant and might need guidance.

I am in the same position my treatment finished Jan 2012. I went through a bacterial virus infection, spent a week in hospital and then operation for implant replacement. Now my general manager said he can dismiss on medical ground. I took my annual leave to cover my operation and have been doing half days. not happy going for meetin this week and i am very stressed and anxious.
My managers been bullying me throughout last year and theis year. I complained several hundred times.
