Hi, i havent posted on here in quite a while but couldnt ignore this as this time 2 years ago i was in your position, severe needle phobia and facing Chemo, i was offered a picc line, and it became my best friend through my treatment, i was petrified about having it fitted and was given some tablts to calm me down, they also give you a local to numb the area, once fitted no more needles, they can take blood from it too, you have to have it flushed once a week and keep it dry, you can buy a sleeve to go over it for showering or some people use cling film. Lilac51, I know joint pain is a side effect of these tablets but didnt expect it to be so severe! cant walk more than 15 minutes without being in agony, turn over in bed and it wakes me up, and as for getting off the sofa i'm like a 90 year old!! I also have problems with my left heel but the Oncologist seems to think that may be seperate. do you take any painkillers?....

Hi,
I havent posted on here in a while, finished active treatment last April and have been taking Anastrozole since July, am suffering horrendous hot flushes but more than that is the back/joint pain, tried different types of painkillers but nothing has helped, so finally rang my BCN, she got me back in to see my Oncologist, she said he will probably change my tablet, saw him today and he has refered me for an MRI Scan, just incase its to do with the Breast Cancer!! I really wasnt expecting this and am now in panic mode with brain doing overtime!
Crazy question I know but I have a severe needle phobia, please can anyone tell me if an MRI Scan involves needles???

Hello,
I was diagnosed with a severely overactive thyroid in the middle of chemo, was discovered because my pulse was extremely fast, i had also lost weight but had put that down to being so ill through treatment, was put on carbizamole to bring it down, it worked too well and it crashed to underactive! so i'm now taking 75mg of Thyroxine which seems to have stablized it, having it checked again this week, my doctor wont confirm its to do with the chemo but said he has seem alot of cases, so certainly worth getting it checked...

Hi, I finished chemo at the end of February last year, I dyed my hair for my sons wedding in the May, that was also the day I went without a scarf for the first time, I was advised not to use a permnant colour so I use L'Oreal casting, its says its for 28 washes but lasts alot longer than that, good luck...

I can't really help but do sympathise, I am struggling with the same SEs on Anastrozole, it is driving me mad,
I have a chillow which does help, also a fan by my bed! the aches and pains are awful, I have an appointment to
see the GP about them next week, my consultant did say they might ease after 6 months to a year! I have only
been on them a couple of months, 5 years seems such along time!!...
I hope someone comes along soon with some helpful advice for you/us!

Hi, I will also be following this with interest, as hot flushes are nearly driving me to drink!!... My chillow certainly helps, and really wanted to avoid medication but am getting a bit desperate, they make me so ratty and miserable.... Are these tablets anti depressants as that is all I was offered when I went to the doctor about them. XX

Hi, I dont want to worry you either but would definately get it checked again, I had a similar experience, had a lump checked in July 2010, mammogram and scan but no biopsy, was told it was fine, exactly a year later had it checked again as I noticed it had got bigger, also had the biopsy this time, it wasnt such good news this time, but it was early stages, its not worth leaving it, hopefully its nothing but definitely get it looked at. Thank you so much, I do have to have a bone scan at some point, chemo pushed me into menopause which started in Dec, oncologist wanted me to take Tamoxifen for a couple of years but I cant because of family history of blood clots, glad you dont have too many side effects, hopefully I will be the same...

Hi, I have been prescribed Anastrozole tablets and just wanted to see how others managed on them, but cant seem to find a thread about them, is it best to take them night or morning, are there any major side effects I need to be aware of?
