Hi Geordiex, I am on the TDM1 trial and my onc told me my gamma gt was high and this usually goes up if you drink alcohol but as I don't drink he says it was the chemo as this is one of the side effects. They delayed my chemo for a week and it went back down. I have just had my next chemo and it has stayed down now....higher than when I first started but nothing to cause concern. Hi Della Good luck with your scan results, I had my chemo today. I to get joint aches but put that down to the herceptin and not the chemo as I had it before the chemo started!!! Best wishes Karen ... View more

Hi I am about to have my 5th TDM-1 tomorrow and don't seem to have any side effects - I went on holiday to Lanzarote 3 days after my chemo and was fine.   I had my CT scan results yesterday and my liver met was 20mm at the start of the trial and has shrunk to 6mm.  Hopefully it will carry on doing so. Hi Kirstie I was told originally by Eurotunnel that they would insure me, I paid and had the documents, they then phoned me back and said they were cancelling the policy as I have secondary cancer to the liver and the lady who took the original phone call and sold me the policy should have not sold it, even though docs have said ok to travel. They refunded me my money. I then rang all the others and the only one who would insure me was MIA as I am on TDM-1 trial (targeted chemo and herceptin) and travel to Lanzarote 3 days after my next chemo. Hi I'm on chemo the TDM-1 trial. I am going to Lanzarote in 2 weeks and rang every insurance company recomended on this site. The first one I tried was Euro Tunnel who accepted me on the condition that my Doctor said I was fit to travel. I did ask a few times about my pre-existing medical conditions but she said as long as the Doc says I'm fit to travel that was ok. My insurance documents arrived and the same day I had a phone call from Euro Tunnel asking what my pre-existing conditions were, I am on chemo with secondary (one 2cm spot) to liver and they said sorry I shouldnt have been accepted, they would not cover me and refunded my money. I rang all of the others listed and the only one who would accept me was MIA who took all of my medical history and took it to their under writers who told me to ring back after my next lot of chemo so they could see how I was getting on. I had no side effects and they insured me for 9 days for £132. Give MIA a ring, they were very helpful. Hope you are able to travel to the USA. Karen x ... View more

Hi, this is my first post, I started my chemo yesterday Taxotare and Carboplatin and it went really well, not sure what I was expecting and was very nervous but it was actually ok. I am taking all the pills subscribed and am feeling slightly tired but not much. I am not sleeping very well but I think that is the steroids and the nervousness waiting for it all to start. So thats 1 down and only 5 left to go!! Hope it all goes well for the others not started chemo yet but it went better than I had worked myself up to believing what it would be like. Karen x ...
