Thank you lottie63 and applestreet, I have bitten the bullet as the saying goes and rang my Oncologist, he is going to book me in for a bone density scan to check things out. I haven't seen my oncologist since my treatment finished so am feeling anxious about that and the memories that it brings, which is obviously how you are feeling Lottie63 with your mammogram appointments, pants isn't it! Hi pepihorse, i too am TN finished chemo end of May 2012 Fec-t, turned 40 in January. I also get bone pain, mainly hips, knees and ankles. The pain is mainly in my hips, at night it can wake me up and its hard to get comfortable. I take it that it is chemo related, I no longer see my oncologist but remember he did say that it can take up to a year after, I don't think they like to say it can last? the problem is that when it continues your mind does tend to fear that it has spread, it's so hard isn't it. Hi Chris and everyone, Glad you are doing well Chris, nice to hear from you. I can't believe for how slow last year went with treatment etc, that it over a year since being diagnosed! I am doing well, still have moments of deep fear of any aches and pains but guess thats how it is now, try not to dwell but not always easy. We have had two breaks to London already this year for my 40th and recently my Husbands 40th, Isle of Wight end of May and Spain in August so making the most of things! Enjoying the Easter Hols and having my Daughter at home. I am also enjoying having hair on my head!!!! Hope everyone is okay, lets hope we get some decent weather soon. Love Sarah xx ... View more

Hi Kermit, I too am TN, I finished my treatment - chemo end of May 2012, surgery July and rads the end of october, sorry I have no words of wisdom to pass on to you but just wanted you to know you really are not alone in the thoughts and fears you are experiencing, I feel exactly the same and everything you have said I think too. I am hopeful that maybe as time goes on these thoughts will be in the background rather than shouting out at the front! i so don't want these thoughts to consume me as I know i should be making the most of being here now and enjoying being with my wonderful family. Thank you all for your helpful replies, I am trying to find out all I can so to "try" and be as on top of things as I can. I have just turned 40 so guess this is the main reason for having dense breast tissue. I personally feel that although a mammogram is never a 100% gurantee for anyone the added issue of having dense breast tissue and maybe not showing up any problem is too much of an added worry for me, coming out of the hospital with as far as i can see everything is ok really doesn't sit well with me. I very much feel at this point of time I would rather opt for another mastectomy and be done with it! I am at present waiting to find out if I can have the genetic testing for BRCA1/BRAC2, I have no 1st degee history of bc in my family but 2 second cousins, I am hoping that due to being TN and 39 at the time of diognosis will be enough. I was doing quite well up until now really and am feeling really quite low at the moment, probably due to having 1st mammogram the worry of what I was going to be told whilst waiting to see the doctor, old emotions came flooding back with a wham! Going wigless for the 1st time last week doing the school run seems like an invite for all the mums that have been dying to ask me questions the invite to do so, and having to talk about it again and again, and my god the stupid things some have said!!!!. Morning ladies, its lovely to hear how you are all getting on, and good news of hair etc growing back, as my sister in law said to me 'you will soon be back to your normal hairy self!' I am very grateful that my hair is growing back but i am so impatient for it to be enough for me to have the courage to go without a wig, I feel until then I cannot feel 'normal', wig on wig off is getting right on my nerves!. I have had a great few weeks whilst my Daughter has been on school holidays it has been so good spending time with her and having enough energy to do things with her again, I do have to have a nap in the afternoon still though, it sweeps over me always at 4pm and sleep I must. Rads start for me soon, I get mapped out this Friday and have to have 25 sessions. I am now the proud owner of a silicone falsie and must admit its pretty good, before that whilst going to put my 'softy' on one morning my cat decided to run off with it, I had to call for my Daughter to chase after him and get it back, we were in hysterics!!, maybe there's catnip in them?!!. Goldie I to have been having dark thoughts, too much so really, I am triple negative so no follow on drugs for me at all, I am due to have 25 sessions of radiotherapy once I have recovered from Masectomy, so probably in a few weeks time. I have so many different emotions going on, happy chemo/surgery over and that I have had good results from pathology reports, down and fed up with waiting for hair, eyelashes, eyebrows to grow back, I don't think I will feel "normal' again till I can go out and about without a wig, and scared about the future and getting the dreaded C back. I totally agree with you that there are no guarantees for anyone and am hoping I can find a way around the fear, as what a waste it will be worrying. I am enjoying my time with my Daughter on her 6 weeks hols and am grateful that I have some energy coming back to be able to do a few things with her which i couldn't have done awhile back. I couldn't agree more, I am also really really really cheesed off, feeling very low and very teary, I want my hair back!, I am fed up with looking in the mirror and seeing this alien face looking back at me, would also be nice to have eyebrows and eyelashes, no sign of them growing back atall. Seems like I will never find myself again at the moment, hopefully it won't last as hate feeling like this. I go to get the results from my Mx at 11am today, so feeling a bit nervous, like you Jane I will be finding out if I will be having radiotherapy. Wow, it all got a bit too much last night, all very overwhelming and had a cry, not really cried at all through all this as my stuburness wouldn't let the bl**dy cancer make me cry but gave in to it and had a sob, seems as though we are all in the same place with our emotions right now, so am very glad that we have each other to hold virtual hands with. Goldie how is Blue doing today? Jo I felt exactly the same as you when waiting for my bone results, your mind imagines all sorts, after I came out from the scan the nurse patted me on the back and said good luck, rather than me thinking that was sweet of her my thoughts were that she was saying that coz of what she had seen on the scan, my results were fine so was just how this whole horrid process makes you feel. I am sure everything will be fine, it's cruel the waiting isn't it, I am thinking of you. Goldie - so sorry to hear your sad news, i can totally understand your upset, I have everything crossed that tomorrow's x-ray isn't as bad as thought, good luck. I'm sure your radioologist will understand you're upset. Sending hugs to you and you're husband. Had my op yesterday, back home now, the district nurse is coming out tomorrow to hopefully take the drain out. Swelling and bruising feeling sore and uncomfortable and a very sore throat but all in all not too bad really. Oh Twinky, hope the antibiotics do their job nice and quick for you. I know exactly what you mean about the bad mouth it to made me feel really miserable not just with the ulcers etc but no taste buds is just awful as you say one of our only pleasures during all this is food! Hope you managed to enjoy your pizza through the power of imagination! My taste buds took took longer to come back on the last one, just coming into week 4 now and they are coming back. Ann - nice to hear from you, I see you at the top of the mountain, I am giving you a wave! Jo - hope you're ok and they get you sorted, must be frustrating. Knoxybabes - great news your lymph node biopsy came back negative. I now have a date for surgery it's the 3rd of July, my surgeon agreed a mx is best for me and will possibly have recon further on down the line. we get back from our break in Sherwood Forest then it's the next day, feel quite nervous but at least have something nice before hand. On the hair front mine is coming in very un even, i have more on the sides than on top, so looking like my dad at the mo! Some is white some is dark, getting very impatient for it to come back, very fed up with putting my wig on every time I go out. Is any elses coming back in even? Afternoon all, Are we all at the top of the mountain now? think we all are, harray to us! I would of been having chemo today usually, keep thinking that I would be in there now and what a great feeling that I'm not, instead have been watching my lovely niece in her sports day, beats chemo any day!!!. Have done quite a bit in the last week or so, have suffered for over doing it at times but has felt good getting out into the big wide world. Jane - hope your bloods are okay, and surgery goes well, let us know how you get on. Glad to hear that all having radiotherapy are doing well, I am still waiting for phone call re surgery. Hi Shadders, Yes but mine kicked in before the end of my treatment, probably after 3rd chemo. I have always been cold blooded, but boy when those hot flushes hit!! My Onc told me that after treatment stops my periods could start again - or not and could continue on the road of menopause. Thing is I have a coil fitted so have not had a period for a few years now so only way I will be able to tell is if the hot flushed go I suppose. Sarah x ... View more
