Yes, after having a hysteroscopy and the results being a thickening of the womb due to the tamoxifen , together with my gynaecologist , I have decided to have a hysterectomy . I have only been on tamoxifen for nine months and there has already been a change . I can't continue for at least 4 years on this medication worrying what it's doing to my body so I'm going for the hysterectomy . My gynaecologist said he understood and agreed with my decision . Hi everyone, hope your doing ok. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I've been off work since August after having WLE , full node clearance , rads and then tamoxifen . I now have lymphadema in surgery arm and breast. I wear a sleave and compression bra. The tamoxifen has left me depressed . I struggle with hip pain and I'm having an MRI I take anti depressants and sleeping tablets! The thing is I don't think I'm going to be able to go back to work. My job is very physical . I work as a teaching assistant in a special school and I am thinking of applying for early retirement due to my health. I'm 53 and I've been working there for 16 years . Is there anyone out there that can give me some guidance. How do I start the ball rolling. Do I tell my boss what I'm doing or wait to see if I can . Sorry going on. Take care x x

Thank you Lottie and Marie . I have continued with the tears . Not a good look when you're shopping in tescos! I was lucky enough to get a doctors appt tonight and she said I have hit a brick wall. She doubled my anti - depressants and given me a weeks supply of sleeping tablets , so please god I sleep tonight. Thank you so much , I felt so lonely today even with family around it was lovely to see those replies. Take care x x

I have been on tamoxifen and venlafaxine since July 2013. The side effects have crept up on me, until tonight! As you can see by the time I can't sleep. I haven't slept at all. I have paced the floor and cried all night. It's been the longest and horrendous night and I don't understand why. I can only put it down to the medication. It's was my birthday Sunday and I had areally lovely day with the family, nice meal , few glasses of wine and then I get home and my mood starts to change. I am shaking , I am tired but as soon as I lay down I feel clostraphobic (spelt wrong) in my own body , I can't breath so I jump up and pace. I can't wait for it to be come light outside. The venlafaxine is supposed to help with the SE, but not tonight. Hope there's some help out there cos I don't want another night like this one x x

Thank you songbird for your very quick reply. I have exactly the same diagnosis as you. Premenopausal ER+8/8 . I did tell the consultant how I felt but he said there would be no way they would do the procedure just because I want it. I am becoming obsessed. After having a lumpectomy, rads , tamoxifen and also developing lymphadema in my surgery arm and breast ,this is something I wasn't ready for .i don't want to be worried about this for the next 5+years!. I just want to be in control the best I can. Big hugs back x x

I have been on tamoxifen for 6 months and on the 4th February I'm having a hysteroscopy. I had my pre op yesterday and the nurse said that while I'm asleep they may do a DnC. To be honest Id rather have a full hysterectomy and be done. If I've got to stay on the medication for 5 years possibly longer , wouldn't it be better for everyone to go down the root of "prevention is better than cure"! I hope there's someone out there that can give me their opinion ,so I can except whats going on. Take care everyone x x

Hi susanmary I have breast lymphoedema and in my arm . In December I was referred to the lymphoedema nurse and she gave me as sleeve and a compression bra. It has helped . I am still in pain but I feel it would have been worse if I hadn't had them . I go back to clinic in February . Hope that helps x x

Hi I finished my rads 8 days ago and my breast is sooo sore swollen hot and very itchy. I have been told to stop the cream from the fridge and I am now using diprobase and antihistamines. Hopefully this will work . Good luck to everyone. Take care x x

Happy birthday for Tuesday . Sounds like you had a lovely time . I had my 10th today - 5 to go. Saw the breast nurse today , skins just about holding up. I have been given fav cooling pads that you store in the fridge. Once you've used one you rinse under the tap replace the backing and pop them back in the fridge. They are amazballs!! Hi Susan Hope your first session was ok for you . I'm having my 5th today and then weekend off for good behaviour lol. My breast is quite red so the cream from the fridge is used 3-4 times a day at the moment . I think I must be getting use to the sessions because yesterday I thought it went quite quick, I didn't have time to become uncomfortable . Take care Have a good weekend Chris x

Thanks for the tip on putting the cream in the fridge, I'll do that right away. I know what to mean about keeping still and what's all that about having an itchy nose ! Without fail that's me desperate to scratch my nose and then you lay there thinking ok where's the next machine going to come from and then you think why isn't anything happening ? Is there anyone there? Have they forgotten me? You've got to laugh otherwise I don't know what we'd do! Keep on slapping the cream on! Take care Chris

Started my rads yesterday and woke up this morning with a tender red breast. I didn't think the affects would happen so quickly. Has anyone else experienced this . Went to clinic to day and I've been given a cool gel patch to put on to cool me down . The clatterbridge cancer centre have been brilliant.
