Hi Donnaandfamily, glad to hear your 1st chemo went well, unfortunately for me I ended up in A & E the following day with the worse bout of sickness I have ever experienced in my life. Thankfully after been hooked up to a drip with antisickness, fluids and a multitude of tests I was allowed to go home later that day. Hi ladies, just had my first dose of FEC which so far is fine. I think this might be known as the calm before the storm! Debs I just wanted to let you know that like you I have curly hair and I also used the cold cap today for the first time. It was absolutely fine, the only downside is that you have to spend longer at the hospital. I'm not sure if it will work but thought I should give it a go. Thankyou for your replies ladies and Donnaandfamily I will be thinking of you on Thursday too.  I know this will sound a bit strange but it is slightly comforting to know that someone is at the same stage of chemo as me. I am going to try the cold cap as this is available at my hospital, although I am doubtful if this will be successful as I have been told it is the E in FEC that makes your hair full out and I am having 6 sessions, so we will see. I also had a breast reduction on my left breast three weeks ago following removal of a 3cm tumour. I have to say the first few days it was very uncomfortable even with pain relief, although after a week I no longer needed to take painkillers. It might help to speak to your BCN if the medication is not helping. Unfortunately I was unlucky and I now have have a mx because of unclear margins. I am now waiting for an appointment with the plastic surgeon. Hope all goes well for you, there are other ladies on this forum who have had the same procedure as us, whose surgery was sucessful and they needed no other surgery.x ... View more

Hi Lilymole, I had surgery on 19th November and like you had to have my dressing changed the day after I was discharged from hospital due to bleeding. While changing my dressing the BCN mentioned the blisters I had on my breast which up until now I had not noticed. She got a pin and popped them all, except a large one that was in my cleavage. The nurse said the blisters were along the wound sight and were sometimes caused from not wearing a fully supportive fitted bra. I was in so much discomfort wearing the bras I had brought for post surgery, my mum had given me a couple of her soft sports bras, which I had chosen to wear and they were not providing enough support. I got a bra extender from M&S which I used on my bras and I am now able to wear them with comfort. I have been applying sudacream to the blister I can see, as advised by my BCN, which has now scabbed and completely healed. I haven't noticed any changes with the other blisters, so it seems they will not cause me anymore problems, although I still have my dressings on so it is quite difficult to tell. I had theraputic mammoplastic on Tuesday, came home next day with one drain in breast. I had to go back to hospital the next day due to bleeding. It was decided the drain would be removed because I had less than 10mls from the previous evening. Hope that is helpful.x ... View more

Hi Nally, I had surgery on 19th and I haven't been able to stop crying for the last couple of days for no apparent reason also, although today I feel not as tearful but slightly stunned that this is all happening to me.
