I have been following your thread with great interest and just found the courage to join in. I agree with all the comments made. I had a LD flap in August '13. After having two infections, one soon after the operation and the second after my first Chemo. my consultant was told (by an Infection Deceases Consultant ) that my implant would have to be removed. At this time both my back and breast were very painful. After the implant was removed the pain did ease in my breast but like the other ladies I am left now with pain, stiffness and discomfort in my back(operation side). I am 69, probably older than the other ladies but my Consultant said he thought I was fit(I did aqua aerobics and walked) and a good candidate for the operation. I see my BC tomorrow for my 12 month test and the result of a body scan I had four weeks ago. Sorry I have gone on about my treatment but I do agree ladies should be told about the disadvantages beforehand and I would like to join any meeting or campaign about the op. I also live in Manchester.
