Hi Lou Lou This was the same for me, had first op 2nd dec then second op 6th jan...started chemo 7th February. The body needs time to heal between each treatment I believe. I had lumpectomy with a reduction plus SNB and did really well after the op, but the node clearance really did wipe me out...apparently 2 ops close together! I echo that jaffacakes! It's mental how it changes your taste buds! I'm a coffee drinker but can't stand the stuff, I'm now drinking black tea with a bit of sugar!!!! Hi rusty, so sorry you have found yourself here, but please believe me when I say this forum and the Facebook group will be a godsend during your treatment. I'm day 5 of TAC which has in honesty been very tough, but feeling much better today. Insist on the sickness meds, I was one of those that had to go back and ask and I don't typically suffer from sickness. I've also had mouth issues, mainly thrush which has made everything creamy so not been able to drink much fluid, but again that is getting better today. I've been using corsodol. It's a very scarey time but like I said, this forum and the Facebook group just seems to make it a little less scarey. Marie x ... View more

Hi London, it's really down to personal preference but I can offer you a little advice to maybe help your decision. I'm a hairdresser who has come across lots of ladies that have been through chemo and I've seen some take control immediately of the hair and others just leave it to shed till it's gone and some use the cold cap (which on the evidence I see only serves to delay the inevitable) in my experience the ladies that took control ie preparing themselves by gradually going shorter till the day comes when they shave it off....this way you get slowly used to having less and less hair and looking different (this is the option I have choice) the ladies using the other methods all found it very distressing especially the ones that used the cold cap as the were obviously hoping for better results. I had my first chemo yesterday and sat with me were 3 other ladies all using the cold cap, each one were at least on their 2n and 3rd round..1 lady was bald underneath at the back with the crown hair covering it, her shoulders and chest were covered in hair! The other had a head full of fluff and the 3rd one had a whispy fringe and a few whisps around about, the rest was bald. What was really obvious was how distressed they were about it. I can't help thinking to myself, especially now that I've found myself in this awful position that surely we have enough to contend with....again in my experience once the initial shock has gone and the tears have stopped it can be put at the back to enable us to cope with recovering from the treatment. Hi lols thank you so much for replying it really does mean a lot to me x Today really wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be...felt a little heady on last drug. On returning home started to feel very tired and can't be bothered feel and stomach felt 'heavy' so took 2 domperidone and it eased it, just every now and then I keep getting a wishy washy feeling in the tummy that comes and goes so gonna take the tablets regularly whether needed or not! Face is quite flushed and hot and I keep going really cold and shivery, dunno if that's normal as they never mentioned that? I will definately keep in touch if that's ok as it's such a relief to be able to talk to someone whose having the same treatment as everyone seems to be on the FEC x ... View more

Hi mrsB62....I'm starting TAC this fri...was a bit of a shock as they led me to believe I would be having FEC! I've not heard anything about fasting though but would be grateful to hear anything that will help us through this! Check out the February chemo thread, there are lots of us on there that are starting our chemo this month, it's been a godsend to me over the last few weeks! We have also started a Facebook group which is a closed group where we can rant, rave, share hopes, fears, well just about anything really!
