Hello, I haven't been on here for a while. My mum finished her treatment for cancer in september and is currently on anastrazole. Yesterday she woke up with back ache but it went but she also has pain just under her breasts but in the middle and its when she breathes in and out. She says she is really tired and just doesn't feel right. I'm really worried this could mean the cancer has gone somewhere else even though her mri and bone scan were clear showing the cancer hadnt spread, it still could have come back as secondary since then? She is going to the walk in drs tomorrow but I'm really scared its come back xxx

Hi my Mum is doing fec chemo and we know her low immune days are days 10-14 but what we wanted to know was can you be around people who have colds on your non low immune days? xx

Hi Joan. Thank you for replying. If you don't mind me asking what problems did you have with the picc line? It is so frustrating isnt it but I suppose its a foreign body so there's always a risk. My mum went back today and she has to have iv antibiotics as she does still have an infection. She has to stay in for a day or two. The upside is that her bloods are really good considering its the 10th day after fec when her immune system should be low. Just really hoping she doesn't have to have picc line removed as they were talking about a Hickman line if it does have to come out. They've sent swaps, etc off to see if the infection is in the line or just on the outside xxx

Hi. Has anyone ever had an infection in picc line? My mum had her picc line put in nearly 2 weeks ago and first chemo last Monday. However when she went to get it flushed yesterday they said she has an infection in it. She has antibiotics and goes back tomorrow for a check up but its just so worrying. Feels like its one thing after another and I'm worried what if the infection turns serious or she gets a blood clot? But then again in a way I hope they don't remove the picc line because they have such trouble finding my mums veins to do bloods etc. Any advice greatly appreciated xxx

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me posting on behalf of my mum. My mum is 54 and diagnosed in December 13, had lumpectomy January and mastectomy and all lymph nodes removed from under right arm in Feb. She has her first chemo in the morning at half 11. She will be having fec-t, 8 doses every 21 days and then rads and then hormone tablets. Chemo sounds so scary for her but I have been reading her posts on here and it has put her mind at rest a little that it is doable and that if something does go wrong ie infection the drs can fix it. Mum keeps saying she's going to join too but I think she's finding it all hard to talk about still. I hope you are all doing well xxx

Hi Maryland. Thank you for replying. Wow you done well working through treatment. Its my mum who has cancer and she's desperate to go back to work but she's going to have treatment first. I did make another post on here here but can't find it. I think its just the fec my mums having tomorrow so I'll have to ask. That's something that it doesn't go down straight away. Do you know how long your immune system is low for? Xx

Hello everyone, my Mum went to find out exactly what treatment she will have today and she will be having four courses of FEC and then a different type of chemo at the end and then rads and hormone treatment. The thing I'm worried about now is infection as apparently this is common with FEC. Has anyone had an infection with it and if so was it easily treated? Xxx

Hi all. My mum had her mastectomy on the 19th Feb. It has appeared to be healing very well but yesterday when she woke up it had been weeping. It's not loads and it doesn't smell. Its a bloody clear fluid. She is going to ring bcn tomorrow to see what they say but I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them? Thanks in advance. Hope you are all OK xx

Thank you. That means a lot. My Mums cancer was picked up on a routine mammogram back in November. That helps knowing others have had positive nodes and are ok. If I'm feeling like this then I can't imagine how my Mum and other people fighting this horrible illness are feeling. Xxx

Hi Kitten_mad, Thank you for replying. My Mums cancer was grade 3 but honestly her consultant never mentioned chemo before today, just rads. She also has to have a bone scan. Is this normal? I will tell her to have a look through the monthly chemo threads. Thank you for replying. I'm so scared the cancer will have spread 😞 xx

My Mums just had her results from MX and five lymph nodes were cancerous so now she needs chemo and rads. So devastated. This has just gone from bad to worse 😞 she has to have a ct scan to make sure it hasn't spread. What if it has? I'm really scared 😞

Hi Barbersdrove. Either way I would say no to having your grandchild as if you haven't had chicken pox already then you could catch it and be pretty ill with it. And if you have had chicken pox then you could get shingles. Eitherway not worth the risk iI'm afraid xxx

Hi Caz. I'm sure the doctors done the CT scan because they know it would show something up if it was there. Glands can come up for any reason. Once for about a week my head felt bruised at the back and I went to the doctor's who told me it was because I had been scratching the eczema on my scalp which has made a gland come up. Why not give your consultant a ring and let them put your mind at rest 🙂 xxx

Hello everyone. Thank you for replying JB. I hope your next op goes well and very glad to hear you are recovered well 🙂 my Mums operation went very well. It actually seemed to be quicker then the lumpectomy and snb! She went down at 10 and was on the ward at 2 and she does have her own room 🙂 Mum showed me what it looks like after mastectomy and I was so surprised by how neat it is! I think she's just glad that it's over now and the bcn said to her 'we won't operate on you again unless you decide you want reconstruction in the future' so glad it's over and next it's the results on the 7th but hopefully she won't need radiotherapy and will just go straight onto hormone treatment. Either way I'll be there 🙂 for anyone else about to have surgery try not to worry. My Mum said it's nowhere near as bad as she thought it would be. She should be home in a few days. Either Friday or Saturday if she doesn't mind coming home with one drain in but they said if she would rather stay in til drain is removed it will be Monday or Tuesday. Hope you are all doing well and again thank you so much for the support xxx

Hello. So sorry to hear you have this awful illness. As I understand it the only definite way they can tell if you need lymph nodes removingis by doing a sentinel lymph node biopsy - removing a few nodes and testing them so unfortunately you do have to wait untilthey have done that to find out if you need more nodes rremoving xxx
