I used dr organic aloe vera gel. It must be 99.9% strength! I apply 3/4 times a day which definitely has helped my skin. I had the gel bolus pad thing on my skin for the 15 sessions which apparently they cant always do as the skin goes so red, but mine held out!! Hi everyone! Just wanted to update you! I started this thread back in february and I cant believe that today I've finished all active treatment!! I started this journey back on Dec 2nd when I was given the news that I had BC! 7 months later I've had a right mastectomy, all 20 lymphnodes removed, embryos frozen, 4 x AC chemo, 4 x Paclitaxel chemo and 15 rads! Looking back I cant believe I've done it and that the time has flown by so quickly. I'm definitely a stronger person and the whole experience has made me look at life/people in a very different light!!!! Life is too short to worry about the little things!!!! Ive lost some friends on the way but I now know who the important people are and who I need in my life! Now to look to the future - whatever it holds! My fiancee and I have booked our adventure to china, australia and hong kong in october so we have that to look forward to! Cant wait!! I know its a strange thing to say, but I do feel lucky that I've received the best care from my local surgery and hospitals and that the nhs has not let me down! I think I was the first to start treatment back in Feb so to those of you still on your journey, you will get there!! Cant quite believe it - my last chemo tomorrow!! 8 of 8!!!!!!! The Paclitaxel has been tougher than the AC, but I can't complain too much as on the whole the se's haven't been too bad! Had my PICC line today. Sedation was great-didnt feel anything and had an xray quickly so all done in an hour! Bit stingy tonight and oozing a little blood but hopefully will settle and I get an ok nights sleep. DN calling tomo to change dressing before my 3rd chemo on Wednesday. Hazel I shaved my head a week ago now as I couldnt stick the itching and the stubble was sore and uncomfortable to wear a hat/wig etc Once done I felt much better and by Friday I was out and about in my wig! ... No I didn't do the cold cap. I don't like being cold and heard that it would add to the time I'd have to be in the chemo unit!! I had below the shoulder long blonde hair, so I've cut it in two stages - to a bob for a bit and then short short before I started treatment!! Quite strange but definitely the best thing to do. Hi Kat. I'm also on 4 AC and 4 Taxol, once every fortnight. Ive had 2 AC doses already and so far so good. I've stuck to plain simple foods for the first couple of days after treatment. Also been drinking lots and lots of water and lemon and ginger tea which seems to help. Another tip I've had is hula hoops! I've also been wearing travel sickness bands! More for psychological reasons I think!!! Ha!! I'm day 15 after 1st dose and day 1 of dose 2 and so far my head hair is still in!! I have noticed thinning of my pubic hair down below though!!! AC Cycle 2 today So far so good tonight!! No sickness after being a bit more on the ball with the ondansetron at 3 and just taken 2 domperidone. They had trouble getting blood from me yest and monday and then got cannula in on second attempt today so booked in for PICC line before next dose. Had hoped to avoid this but no choice now really!! Hair still all in atm which I'm surprised about. Hia kiwijan and thanks for popping in to meet us and glad to hear of another AC receiver! When did your hair start to shed? AC Cycle 1 Day 4 Sorry to hear some of you ladies are not too good today!! Apart from a metaly taste in my mouth, i'm doing ok. Slept heavily from 12-4 and then from 5ish until 10.15!!!! Hope the sickness stopped! You definitely need to ask for different drugs if they're not working!! I would recommend cutting your hair! I had long blonde hair when i was diagnosed. Cut it to a bob middle of jan and just cut it short. Its very tough but its good to be in control! And hopefully will be easier than seeing long hair falling out!! And less painful they say but everyones different and it is a personal choice. One girl I met on fb donated hers to a childrens cancer charity.
