Ok so back from my appointment.... The radiologist has said that the latest biopsy results are not consistent with what he saw on the initial scan.. So now the plan is to do a surgical excision - but the consultant has said that I will have to go to ultrasound first to have a 'wire' placed and then up to theatre for the surgery - then I will be x-rayed to make sure he has 'got it all' All sounds rather confusing but good news is that they managed to get my pre-op checks all done today and I have been booked in for 15th October. Consultant said that he would take as minimal amount of tissue as he could as if it was anything nasty the chances are we would be going back for more surgery anyway. (hey - what happened the positive thinking doc!! lol) Looking at the paperwork - there is loads of it- is states I am to have 'wide local excision (ultrasound wire guided) for indeterminate lesion of the breast' whenever I look for WLE on websites it always seems to be for confirmed cancer cases and is rather a larger surgery than I had in mind. I was told I should be able to come home the same day. Anyway I am pleased as at least after surgery I should have a definitive diagnosis.......mmmm I am sure I have said that statement a few times over the last few months... lol!

Hi Jayne Hope all ok with you. Sorry about the delay in getting back in touch. The second biopsy showed benign changes - Great News! The consultant said he want to check that the radiologist was happy that the result was consistent with what he saw on the scans, but the consultant was pretty sure all was ok. He said that he would discuss my results at the meeting on Monday 9th September. If any more tests were needed he would ring me, but if all ok he would just write me a letter letting me know all 100% ok. No phone call so I was feeling rather happy. Then a letter came through on Friday 12th telling me I have an appointment on 22nd September - then a letter came on Monday from the consultant saying that following the meeting he would like to talk to me further and that I will l get a letter with an appointment. So I now feel rather deflated again! The thing is as the consultant was so sure all was ok my hubby has now told my family that I am all ok, and he is skipping round like a spring lamb! bless him! I wish I could feel happy - I am just a but concerned that the radiologist is still worried perhaps? I rang the nurse and she was a bit vague - she said they probably just want to remove the mass. How easy would it be as there is no palpable mass and the Core biopsy missed it the first time. I had a larger fibriod adenoma removed from my right breast around 6 - 7 years ago, so not overly worried about anaesthetic or surgery if needed. Hey and maybe it might 'even' me up a bit!! lol I am really trying to stay positive and see the humour in all of this but it has now been 4 months since the start and I still have not got a definitive diagnosis.

thanks Jayne I have appiontment on Tuesday for my results - so not too long to wait at all really. I just feel like it has been going on for so long now - I had my first appointment at the end of May. Fingers crossed I will get a definitive diagnosis on Tuesday. Thaks for your repsonse. x

Hi Everyone I had my 2nd Ultrasound guided core biospy yesterday and am now waiting for the results again. I had results from the first biospy at the of July - that showed normal breast tissue - which the doctor said was not concurrent with the mammogram and ultrasound findings - which showed a 12 mm 'abnormality' The doctor said he was not too worried and wanted another biopsy just to be sure. I am trying to stay positive and not worry too much. what if the biopsy comes back as normal breast tissue again - where do we go form here? how can an abnormality in mammogram and ultrasound be normal breast tissue according to 2 biopsies? Sorry if I sound a bit paranoid! Thanks in advance for any repsonses

Hi purplebunnie Crumbs 15 core biopsies! That sounds an awful lot no wonder you are feeling a bit sore. The support in this forum is fab. I am sure someone with more experience will jump in as well. I am yet to have my core biopsy so you are a step ahead of me at the moment. All the best for the 21st. I have read that ice packs can help with the soreness and bruising. Keep us updated X

Thanks Ann My hubby works away so would rather he be home for results than just tests - so thanks for advice re driving home. I can always wait and have a cup of tea and wait a bit before i drive home. I am bit nervous about the procedure as I have heard that is has been pretty painful for some people. Good to hear that it did not hurt for you. thanks again for taking time to repsond. Thanks x

Hi everyone I had a mammogram on 5th June was then referred for ultrasound scan as 12mm irregularity classed as M3 seen. I had the Ultrasound last night. Doctor said could still not tell what it was - It is not a cyst, I now have to go back for an ultrasound guided core biospy. They said it could be up to 3 weeks before I get the biopsy. He spent a long time also scanning my axilla. Is that normal during a scan. I could see the lump/mass on the scan easily. I am trying to stay positive, but feel the waiting is getting me down. I had a fibriod adenoma in 2006 and I was seen and diagnosed on the same day. I had the surgery within a month. It is frustrating that everything seems to be taking such a long time this time round. Does anyone know how long it takes for the results from a core biopsy take to come back? I have seen that some people have said they get them in a letter? I am supposed to be going on holiday with my family on 2nd August. I feel as though I cannot plan anything until I have a diagnosis. Also with having a core biopsy am I ok to drive myself home afterwards? I only had a FNA in 2006. Many thanks fopr reading - any help or advice gratefully received.

Hi everyone Just wanted some advice really had mammogram couple of weeks ago as had pain in right breast assumed it was scar tissue from fibro. Removed 7 years ago. Been referred for ultrasound now. Spoke to nurse yesterday who said 12mm irregularity found in left breast. Classed as M3. Got to wait til 7th July for u/s scan. Is irregularity another word for lump? My mum had breast cancer in her early 50's. Is fine now had mastectomy but no chemo. It was around 20 years ago. Should I be concerned? Thinking maybe another fibro?? Do they should up on mammogram? It is first mammogram I have had. Could it be normal for me as they have nothing to compare to? Is 12mm big or small for a lump?? Sorry about all the questions I am probably worrying about nothing. But though I would ask on here. Thanks in advance for any replies
