Hi, Had my first chemo treatment yesterday. On EC x4 then Docetaxel x4. Already had a mastectomy + sentinel node biopsy the axillary node clearance. Spent yesterday evening vomiting but feel a bit better today. Just now a waiting game to see what other side effects I experience.

Hi Everyone, I've finally got my chemo treatment dates which start on 25th June. I've been wanting to get on with treatment but now I have the dates feeling a bit scared and down. I hate the not knowing on how I'm going feel and the effects of the drugs. I'm on EC for 4 & Docetaxel for 4. At least I now have an end date to see there is light at the end of it all. I'm finding these forum boards really useful because it gives an insight into how it affects everyone and the positivity of people on this roller coaster ride is amazing. I'm looking for any advice on buying a wig. I'm due to start chemotherapy in a few weeks time, so want to get a wig soon. I've already had my hair cut shorter in preparation. Has anyone advice on the type of wig or the best style to choose. Also does the NHS wig voucher cover up to a max limit on what you can spend? I've already done some searches on existing forum threads but wondered if anyone has any new advice to make this process less stressful! Thanks

I've had my node clearance operation and I don't feel as bad as last time. Not in as much pain or as washed out as last time. I think the 2 units of bloods I've had helped. Just got more waiting now for the results.

I had a full node clearance on 16th May and I'm getting the same, terrible stinging, shooting pains under my arm, and down the back of my arm especially when trying to stretch for something. It does seem normal from what I've heard.

Hi, It is good to know that someone has gone through it and got some sensation back. Got my bloods back and I'm still anaemic. Having a blood transfusion of 2 units tomorrow. Then I can go ahead with the operation on Friday. Hate the waiting, as I just want to get on with my treatment. Thanks for all your comments and good luck with everyone's treatments. X

Thanks for the reply. I know what you are saying about it is better to make sure it is all clear. Makes me feel a bit better knowing you have had the same experience and the rest of your nodes were clear. Just hate the waiting and not knowing what is going to happen next. Did you end up having chemo and radiation therapy?

I've had a mastectomy with sentinel nodes removal and my results showed the first node wasn't clear but the second was. So I now have to go through surgery and recovery again as they are going to remove all of my lymph nodes to check they are all clear. Feel frustrated that they didn't do it all in one operation and I have to go through it all again. Has anyone else gone through this? The consultant said I might lose sensation around my armpit and the top of my arm. Has anyone got any advice? I still have to wait another 3 weeks before they will operation as I lost a lot of blood during my first operation and I'm suffering tiredness due to being anaemic. Just feels like one thing after another.

This breast cancer care website is brilliant for information on everything and has help me get through the process and stay one step ahead so I feel like I'm in control. I've also found it helpful to carry a pen and pad around with me all of the time to write down all of my questions for the next appointment I have. It is a roller coaster of emotions but the more people you tell, the more people can give you the support you need. Don't feel like you have to keep your fears to yourself find someone to share them with as I've found it does help. Good luck with your treatment x
