For Debbie Howes It's a bit long sorry... There are different kinds of oestrogen, some good and some bad, which are in the liver, gut and fatty tissue. Some things can help to assist in draining out dangerous oestrogen. Methylation in the liver is one of the most important issues. Lack of nutrients, gut problems and stress all contribute to poor methylation. There are food sources and supplements which contain B2, B6, B12, magnesium, folate and betaine. There is also an enzyme in the gut and liver that encourages oestrogen to feed cancer. Something that is used to reduce this is called Calcium-D-Glucurate. Also, 2methyl hydroxy is the good oestrogen and to be encouraged (soya, flax, omega 3, turmeric, vitamin D) and 16hydroxy is bad, however the ratio between these two is important for health, as long as 2 is much higher. A product called DIM is used to help the ratio of 2 to go higher and 16 to be lower. Inflammation also causes the body to produce more oestrogen, so taking fish oil, turmeric and adopting an anti inflammatory diet, less meat and omega 6 will help. Pollution and chemicals cause oestrogen mimics, so being mindful of that. Plastics are a big source of BPA, which especially when heated with food and drink is very toxic, so heating or storing food in plastic will release chemicals into food and drink. Any cleaning fluids and some beauty products, breathing in petrol fumes when filling the tank will all have an effect on disrupting oestrogen metabolism. A good source of fibre like psylium husk will help to bind and flush out circulating oestrogens that would be re-absorbed if bowel transit is slow. There is much more to discuss on this fascinating subject. I will be doing some talks on this sometime soon. There are also tests to see how oestrogens are behaving and what is low or blocked for you. In short we all had our health weaknesses before we got diagnosed and it can be very helpful looking back on our health map to see what can be done. If youwant to ask anything or order products, I can give you the details.
