Hi Wendy, Hope  everything went ok at the hairdressers, I think the anticipation is the worst thing to deal with but once it's done and you've had a good cry I just felt a sense of relief, one less problem to deal with!   Cath  Hope you're feeling better by now, be gentle with yourself for a while.     We had a great night at a hotel seeing a Beatles tribute band   but only had about an hours sleep due to pain in my breast and side and then the dreaded 'restless legs' started  so was in and out of bed all night while hubby snored on oblivious (bless him!) Hope everyone's treatment goes ok this week, my new chemo starts Thursday so will probably be joining the thinning hair club yet again. Hi Rach, Thanks for the tip about anaesthetic cream to put on the port, I'll remember to ask at the hosp.  Feels a bit better today so by Thursday should be ok for treatment.  On the subject of wigs my hospital  lets you choose  one free of charge from a supplier in Ipswich and they arereally good.  The first time I wore it I went to the coast with a friend and had a scarf in my pocket  in case I needed to fasten it down as it was really windy but it didn,t move at all, was brilliant and did wonders for my self confidence! Well, am going to a hotel for an overnight stay tomorrow to see a tribute band and am determined to have a bacardi or two and try to remember when things were normal so CHEERS GIRLS! Hi everyone,  I haven't signed in for a few days as I feel I've been living at the hospital this week!  Saw radiologist on Tues and am going to have 5 days of radiotherapy asap but have been in hospital today having a port fitted, not painful but a very weird procedure.  Feeling a bit battered and bruised at the moment and not looking forward to going to bed as cannot get comfortable (poor old me, ha ha!)  I'm due to start Kadcyla next Thursday so don't know what treats are in store with that, probably constipation is a certainty - bring on the sennakot! Hope everyones treatment has gone well this week, it's good to know that we can share our feelings as dealing with this horrible situation is such an emotional rollercoaster isn,t it? hi joanne,  so pleased to read your post it seems that you have come to the corner and are about to turn things around.  I've lost my hair twice and the first time I cried over that more than anything else I think it's a 'woman thing'!  I'm probably going to lose it again but not bothered this time, it comes back eventually and the NHS wigs are so good no one knows you're wearing them and they're quite comfortable.   Don't shut your family out, we mums think we should cope as we don't want to upset our children even though they may be grown up.  I didn't realize I was doing this until this time my daughter and grandaughters have made me promise not to keep anything from them and I know this is the way to go so join with me and let your family in so they can understand what you're goung through and support you. Hi Cath,  will be thinking about you tomorrow and everyone else having treatment.  I have to see radiologist tomorrow re large dose of therapy before starting chemo next week and am having port fitted on Friday so not the best of  weeks!     Knowing we're all going through it together does help as just at the moment I feel really fed up with low energy levels and low everything.   Sorry to moan!!! Hi  Joanne, You're not being 'desperate' at all, you're going through all the feelings we all have and it's difficult for friends and family to understand because they love you and want to do the best for you.  I've not been on the site for a few days as I've felt a bit low and scared as I'm due to start my 4th different type of chemo next week but feel better today and determined to give it my best shot.  Whatever you feel or say is totally understood by us all so please don't feel you're on your own, just promise yourself you're going to 'kick ass'!! I'm a new member and only have quite basic computer skills so am having fun trying to work out which 'threads' etc I should be on but hopefully I'll get there in the end! Hi Wendy,  Yes, I've had 3 lots of chemo since 2011,  FEC, Taxoterre and Capecetabine and have been really fortunate not to have had too many side effects apart from fatigue and food having no taste. I always thought fatigue was just tiredness, WRONG!  it's totally draining isn't it and can last a day or two. Apparently Kadcyla is approved to treat HER2 positive after prior treatment with Herceptin where the cancer has spread.  Anyway I'm hoping to  get some answers this week as my head is all over the place at the moment. Hi hbunny,  I've been through FEC, Taxoterre and thought I was doing well on Capecetabine but the skin has started breaking down so cap had stopped working.  My onc said he would put me onKadcyla but now he's decided  to try radiotherapy so am just keeping my fingers crossed. hi cath, was hoping to start chemo soon but my skin is now breaking down and my onc says the next step is some radiotherapy so don't know what that's suppose to achieve really but hopefully I'll find out on Monday. Had a couple of really 'down days' this week feeling frightened and panicky but today had a girly retail therapy day so bring it on!! Hi Laurelle here, new member on the forum hopefully starting 3rd different type of chemo in July.  Is anyone on Kadcyla?  I believe it's a new one and just hope it stops the little wretch from spreading further.  Have lost my hair twice and have 2 brilliant NHS wigs that surprise everyone when they find out it's not my own hair!  I'm also due to have an implantable port as my veins are really bad now so at the moment feel totally fed up but it's lovely to see how everyone is so supportive of each other on the forum.  Upwards and onwards eh!! ...
