Hi, I've seen an oncology nurse practioner. We spoke about how I am coping, she put me on a waiting list for reflexology and sorted some relaxstion tapes for me. She was lovely and it was nice to talk freely to someone about how I feel without upsetting someone you love. They can also talk about benefit payments, what support is out there for care etc if you need it. Don't know if this is the sort of appointment your Mum has got as all centres might be different? I often think about the age thing, I'm 44. I've reached the conclusion its not my age that I find so hard to deal with but the stage in my life. I had my children later (got a 6 year old and 2 year old), so the fact I won't be able to parent til adulthood destroys me, if I had them in my twenties they'd be pretty much grown up and I could find some acceptance. I guess we just have to live the best we can and find what joy we can now, at least I no longer postpone the fun stuff, we are making our happy memories now. I hear about people looking forward to grandchildren and I feel really jealous....then feel awful for begrudging others happiness, wish this disease made me a better person! Thanks for responding Rattles. Nurse thinks it might be hormonal, and given my really good recent scan result does not think it is anything to worry about but if still concerned after Xmas I should call again and they will get me in. I really struggled whilst having chemo, think the cause was the anti sickness drugs. I used Lactulose, takes a day or two to work.  Good luck, I know it's not much funxx ... View more

I'm really sorry you are having such a hard time. If you have spoken to the helpline I hope they have offered you the help you need. I'm fairly new to this disease and obviously dont know about your treatment but perhaps if the treatment you have had so far has worked fairly well you might move onto something a bit less aggressive or at least with side effects that are not so hard to live with in the future.  Abi xx   ... Hi, just an update. Latest scan showed that tumours in lungs have 'gone', best news we could have hoped for and now treatment free until still least next scan.I know Bev has also had some good news recently re chemo working. Just shows, there is hope for us Triple negative ladies. EJ, how are you getting on with Abraxane?  I have 2 small children and I am going to be around for a while, can't contemplate anything else. I am so sorry you are in this position, it's just dreadful. I was diagnosed with primary and secondary in lungs in May and honestly wondered how I could function as I was absolutely devastated. I am 44 with a 6 year old and a 2 year old. 6 months on and I feel so much more positive, finished chemo recently and it has been really successful. As a family we are doing lots of lovely things and planning hols etc for next year. I couldn't imagine feeling like this back in May and I am sure it is because you have to put a brave face on and get on with things for your kids.
