Hope it's all ok for you Peta . I did grill my surgeon about post operative mammograms . He said they are much more complex to read than 'normal ' ones and sometimes 2 or 3 people look them over . You were very brave having yours with a sore boob . Xx ... View more

Well ladies I saw my lovely surgeon . He was pleased with everything and had a good rummage and found nothing . My heart pounded with fear . He advised to leave mammo for 4 months as so soon after radio . I happily obliged .... Woos ! He encouraged me to place 'it' at the back of my mind . Good advice , I will try ! There's an angel on your shoulder Bexter I'm sure . X I had similar thoughts when I found my lump a year ago . Am I unlucky to have it , or lucky because I found it .? Something made me glide my hand across my breast that night and bam there was the lump . I like to think it was my angel or maybe my mum who passed away a few months earlier who guided me to it . Congratulations madam at long last you are on the podium -welcome ! I have my yearly check up on Monday which includes a mammo . I'm bricking it tbh but it has to be done I guess . My feet still a bit sore and tingly but mucho improved now . I'm going to the gym 3/4 times a week and it has helped . Riding my horse for short bursts and no longer throwing myself on the floor when I dismount . Those extra pounds I put only during chemo are proving hard to shift , I've never had a problem losing weight before . It's only 6 pounds but they don't seem to want to leave me ! Xx ... View more

I've also had some pain in my lumpectomy boob . It mainly comes when I've had an underwired bra on for a few hours . I think it is just trauma to the tissue . I understand 'the fear ' I have delayed my smear test for too long now as I'm scared of setting another load of hares running . I'm mostly v v happy and positive now particularly as I have been able to quit my job which means I can move on and focus on myself for a change . However this has made me more fearful of 'it' coming back to spoil the party as it were . I hope we all get over 'the fear ' . We have all done fantastic so far , we must try as hard now as we did during our treatment to handle this fear . I hope we all succeed . Love to all xx ... View more

Lainie , that sounds reassuring . Fingers xd it's the dreaded taxol and that the problem with your sight diminishes . Yes ladies feeling the pain in my 'bad' boob is scary but also it doesn't feel dead or numb like before so I guess it is the nerves . I'm not going to worry - what's the bloody point ? 😊 I'm hitting the gym and as well as the rowing machine and bike I'm giving the cross trainer a go ! I'm a bit ploddy on it but I think it might help my co ordination . I've not thrown myself off the horse again lol ! But will have another try in a week or so . my feet / nerve pain is still staying minimal and I'm so pleased . My feet still look puffy and my big toe nails look disgusting I'm almost glad the weather is bad so I can keep the under cover . I don't feel like putting varnish on them as I need to see what's going on underneath ... Yuk ! Has anyone sent a thankyou card to their onc ? I did to the chemo nurses and radio staff and bought chocolates too but not for my onc ! I feel guilty so I'm going to send him one . I spent a lot of time moaning and groaning to him and now I'm feeling a bit better I want him to know I'm great full for what he and his team did for me - particularly when he gave me the option of a plan b when things went pear shaped with the docetaxel xx ... Hi all I've been away for 3 days for a little break with my family . Junash congrats on finishing your treatment . Lainie , I feel for you and hope you get sorted out soon . My hair is growing thicker each day but never looks any longer ! I have had some slight pain where the lump was removed which scared me a bit ,however it has felt numb for so long and now feeling is coming back so I suppose that's normal . I have managed 2 nights without amytriptyline and my feet seem no worse without it so that's good . I'm walking much better now and feel stronger but still not back to full strength yet . I'm now planning to lose 9 pounds to get back to my normal weight - that will be quite a challenge ! Xx ... View more

Oh crap lainie . I wonder if that is like the peripheral neuropathy type thing only in your eye ? I hope it's one of those things that rectify on it's own . Bloody needles , I've gone quite needle phobic too now . I am bidding for the ' most bizarre se now ! ' .... I get songs lodged in my head for weeks and weeks , it's so bizarre and quite annoying ! When I was very poorly on docetaxel and in a and e I had Rage against the machines 'killing in the name of ' going round and round in my head . I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with their work , it's good but combative rappy anti everything ! Not very soothing . The inner song has changed now but I almost dread listening to anything in case it gets stuck on repeat play in my head again . ... View more

Hi Ladies , I'm sorry to hear about ongoing stress and issues . I just wanted to add this post as it might benefit others . As you know I have had terrible nerve pain in my feet since completing paclitaxel . It's affected my walking and kept me awake for at least 2 hours every night for nearly 3 months . The last week or so it has started to ease slightly . But out if the blue I got a call to say I had been referred for complimentary therapy . I was offered acupuncture but there is no way I could stand that in my feet so they offered me reflexology followed by acupressure instead . Already it has made a positive difference and last night I got to sleep really quickly . I think it can help with aches and pains all over the body , so maybe it's something others can ask about x ... View more

I don't even want to think back to mine , but I had the biopsy and it was quite sore , I had padding and tape over it . no one except my husband knew anything .by this stage I had been told it was cancer . 2 days later we took my daughter and pony to meet some friends so the girls could go on a farm ride together . Our pony was very bright , eyes on stalks and far too boisterous for my daughter so I had to get on board and ride the first part . It was a hot day , very very hot and I was sat on this over excited bucking pony thinking I must be bloody mad ! I was scared I might fall off , bang the lump and cause it to spread round my body . I got quite ratty at one stage as the other kids were galloping around and winding up our pony even more , it was only months later that I could explain how I was feeling that day . ... View more

Lovely post geegee you do have a way with words x murphy ditto I too went alone for my biopsy as I thought that if my husband came with me it would be like admitting that it WAS cancer and WAS serious . I have never felt more alone or frightened in my life and my legs literally shook as I lay there as the biopsy clicked in . I was upset too my the sad story in the news , I had to get my daughter out of the way so I could discuss with my husband . I fear the story coming on the news and her being upset . I'm not watching the drama Because I get very engrossed in dramas and films and 'believe' them if you know what I mean , I don't want this one to bring me down and in some ways I feel annoyed about it too .
