Brilliant news Lainie - as someone that's had her fair share of implants/boobs being drained - its simple, painless and quick procedure. Hello all Sorry we're struggling - isn't this so tiring! LainieG my mastectomy site is definitely bigger since rads - I'm like you - skin & expander and I can feel and see a real change - the expander is rock solid, I can feel the corners and edge of it poking through - it's not twice as big but definitely bigger - I know it was put in to take the brunt of the rads b4 swapping after summer but wasn't earned of shape change - think I may get it checked out. Talking of rads - I have an awful burn from under my chin (s) down my neck, I was warned as they've zapped the node area but jeez Louise it's sore & weepy. Got some flamadine for it but it hasn't helped yet. Can't wear a scarf as that keeps taking the top layer off. Ouch 😞 Jingo hope that insect bite goes down on its own accord Chemo brain in full force today - referred to a lamp as a plant, lost car keys while out shopping - retraced steps to bakers, chemist and grocers and found them on top of a large sack of carrots in the grocers and noticed was wearing cardi inside out when I got home from shopping - no hair to hide label so all could see. Right time to take my tamoxifen and put on my burn cream - oh the joys.... Love to all - hoping additional or new aches, swellings and constant worries subside. ... View more

How frustrating Lainie (sorry bit of an understatement!) - they must have come across this before with metal in bodies?! Just got in from a Macmillan 'night in' event - was fun, had a couple of beers and nibbles, a nice way to celebrate end of rads. thanks for shuffling - loving the view from the top podium. Looked in my diary - no appointments next week, feels very odd - I'm signed off work until end of June then may think about a phased return, I'm only 3 days a week but the thought of commute already makes me feel weary Tomorrow morning I must remember to start taking the tamoxifen!!! That's amazing the price difference! Hope you get the ones you want. I've been reading up on tamoxifen - I'm due to start end of month - differing opinions as to which brand, think the bindings can cause various side effects. I suppose it's a similar situation and trying to find one which suits us individually the best. ... View more

Jingo firstly a relief about your little mans heart condition thats it can be well managed - brilliant. Terrible shock for you - four cancers BUT they're gone, you listened to your gut feeling so well done, must have taken some strength to persuade the powers that be to carry out a double mastectomy. My mastectomy boob had three seperate tumours of differing grade and size. My 'healthy' boob had some DCIS which they removed with clear margins - I wanted them to perform a double mastectomy but they said it wasn't necessary - so at mo have my implant perky and my naturally saggy - huge size difference. A double would have been psychologically better for me but ho hum. Sitting in hosp at mo for hormonal blood tests and then onto rads - no 15 out of 25. Peta I'm having rads at Maidstone hosp as its nearer to home and I'm still signed off work. Think you for sharing about Mollie - certainly puts things in perspective - I've been wallowing a bit recently but think coming out the otherside. Agh Jingo although it's a comfort to know its not just me with these thoughts and I'm not completely losing the plot I'm really sorry that you're having them too. Yep I look at my eleven year old thinking hes to young to be without his mum and I'd hate to bring that sadness into his life. I know he'd cope and would be surrounded by love but still...... God I hate this. Fingers crossed with the passing of time that it does get easier, let's hope so eh? I know you've got the additional worry with your little man - am thinking of you. Yep dull brain here as well - earl grey or breakfast tea..... Hmmm decisions decisions!! 12th rad today out of 25 - skin ok so far but had my 'mid rads meeting' today and consultant warned me the next 12 will affect skin, especially neck area as they're zapping nodes and tiredness will really hit - joy of joys. AM Driver hope your skin calms down - lets us know how you get on with the prescribed lotion/gel. Had a Wobble today 😞 - some mum friends of mine are booking to go to Tenerife in feb 2016 with kids for half term. I've booked today to go with Sam but couldn't shake the thought that it's a long way off and what if I'm not here - I really need to sort this head out. Is it just me having these dark thoughts? Husband said I mustn't think like that but sometimes I can't shake it. I feel so well physically but this gloomy head of mine is driving me bananas. Just a quickie as I'm in my jim jams and heading up to bed - radiotherapy, had number 11 today out of 25 - did it cause hair loss for any of the posse? My hair seems to be shedding a little - agh!!!! Lainie - I think it was you that asked me about my wobbly teeth, always had dodgy gums but chemo inflamed them and caused pockets around back teeth - two wobbly and onebroken one - being sorted soon though. I'm not on the podium yet - 16 more rads to go and operations after summer to reduce my big boob by half - this had DCIS but cleared when I had my mastectomy on the other side and final (fingers crossed) recon on mastectomy side. So what I thought I'd do was after rads stand on the podium with the posse then in September step down until ops are done and dusted, if that's ok with you all. My Breast surgeon gave me the news that I had cancer, I didn't hear much after but my first words to my husband were what about Sam? Our son, he was my first thought. I haven't gone back to those days really in my head - makes me feel panicky. Am hoping time will help & heal. ... View more

Getting 5 mins before another full day of kids rugby - waiting for a coach with a load of under 11s boys and hungover parents - not me though. Am so so tired - but pushing through it - rads tiredness starting as well.only another 17 to go...... Ha the posse may well have to come and get me at some point next week - yesterday another 90 minutes but today was better 60 minutes - still too long and my shoulders are aching. One of the radiologists said "do your shoulders generally hurt?" So I hissed back "only when I'm laying like this for all this ****** time" lost my cool a bit but felt better than crying! So a full week next week and they have said to take paracetamol or pain relief beforehand?!! Hope all ok with everyone - I'm just in from a friends 40th birthday drinks etc. - feeling old - went out without scarf / hat. - freedom 🙂 ... View more

have now caught up with all your posts - phew Well done to the rad finishers - PETA !! That was a slog. Hope painful hands and feet for those that are suffering are easing - mine are fairly back to normal. Occasionally a tingly tow but on the whole ok - my nails are awful though - have lost one and the rest are brown - but can see the fresh pink nail growing so it's just a case of waiting, Radiotherapy !!! Stupidly I thought this would be the easy part of active treatment WRONG! I had my second one today and had to lay on the table again for 1hour 20 mins while they lined me up - it's messing with my head and I can feel a surge of panic building - not sure I can do another 23 sessions. It's my shape apparently - meaning fat, one huge boob and one implant boob all combining to make rads difficult. The thought of going back at 10am tomorrow is actually making scared. I cried while on the tsble today - how pathetic. Chemo was kind to me on the whole but this is a different story! Its a gorgeous afternoon - will make a cuppa and try and relax in the garden before the school run. Love to the posse xx ... View more
