Hi   It definitely is the way to have anything done. I remember the good old days when they used to put you to sleep for a filling at the dentist 👄 😏 .  I had my first session today and everything went OK I feel a bit sick but not sure if that is just because I think I should feel sick or what , you know how your mind messes with you . Hi Mr Munch I had a Hickman line fitted yesterday in preparation for my first chemo on Wednesday (tomorrow). I had it fitted with sedation  and a local was given rather than a GA. Procedure lasted for about 45 mins and I woke up just before it was over but it was fine. Hi all Like you I am not on FB and would love to join this group.  My story so far diagnosed in August  ( after being referred for a mamogram by genitist following my sister's diagnosis in 2013 no lump felt) Stage 3 invasive in L breast 9mm lump. No nodes involved - due to family History bi lateral mastectomy with a an immediate diep reconstruction. Hi My heart goes out to you and I wish you well I was diagnosed in August and along with the anxiety of waiting for results the lack of sleep really started to affect my mood. I went to see my GP who was really good and took the time to listen to how I was feeling . I have never been one to take pills and made sure I exercised , no napping, eat well but in the end  I accepted his offer of sleeping tablets and diazopan. I do not take this every day/night but when I feel I am at the end of my nerves it is reassuring that I have something I can take.  My biggest worry was on top of everything else what would happen if I became addicted.... Hi I will be having a bilateral mastectomy with a diep reconstruction on the 14th October this will be followed by chemo.  Can you let me know what you brought in to hospital with you eg type of underwear? I am sure I will speak to BCN ahead of the surgery.  I do not have time to do the yoga but I will make sure my sister sees your post. I have had my ultrasound and the two areas of concern turned out to be cysts thank god... These were removed there and then.  I have my meeting with the plastic surgeon on 17th . I spoke to one of the nurses in the breast clinic who said that if I need chemo/radio then he would not do the diep until at least 6 months after treatment is finished which I get but had hoped to get back to normal asap.   I have my node biopsy on the 23rd, the waiting is absolutely killing me coz there will still be a wait for the results before I have the double mastectomy. I keep thinking that the delay will allow the cancer to spread if it hasn't already!  Sometimes I still think how can I have this in me when I feel so well?  I woke up last night in a state as I dreamt that I was rindled with cancer and was given weeks to live, and I thought I don't even know if that's true or not. Hi Anne    My life that is awful,  I hope you and your daughters keep safe and well, I have four sisters and 2 of us have it and I hope no more  gets it.    Did you have chemo/radio before or after WLE . My sister had a single masectomy but I think she will change her mind now,  She had a temporary implant but this got infected so had to be removed so she has her 'chicken fillet' in the mean time. Hi all   I had my appointment on Tuesday - I have to have my ultrasound on Thursday and I have my biopsy for the centinel node planned for the 23rd Sept - the waiting between appts and results is stressful and all i think is that the delay between diagnosis and surgery means that the risk of the cancer travelling increases every pain I have I think thats the cancer travelling to my lungs and liver ...   I have not had an appt for the plastic surgery consultant  yet - my target date is 2nd October but realistically cant see this being met as I hope to have a DIEP at the same time as the bilateral masectomy - but again I have no idea yet if am to have radio/chemo which will mean that I cannot have the DIEP all of this what if's is making me so anxious but I try to put on a smily face for my children as I dont want them upset.                         I spoke to the genetist yesterday who has said that they only test for BRCA1 / 2 at the moment and would take my case to the team meeting on Thursday for me to be tested for the gene I will be giving him some blood just in case they said yes - but will ask for my daughters to be screened early too - the thought of them going through all of this................. Hi Mary   My mom passed away 23 years ago and was never tested. She was diagnosed with BC about 37 years ago and I am not sure even if genetic testing was even talked about back then. I went with my sister to see the genetic counselor which prompted my mammogram (I could not feel a lump as it is at the back). I have left a message for him to call me so I can discuss this with him as I have 2 daughters which concerns me. I have an appointment with my consultant on 8 September, I am hoping he will give me a date to see the plastic surgeon and from there a date for surgery  I just hope I don't have to wait long for that appointment Diane ...
