Hi Lynn Ann Hope Friday goes well for you with the colour, if it helps I have coloured mine a few times now and seems fine. Glad more good than bad days. I agree SE of Tamoxifen get to me particularly not sleeping and then all seems worse. Anyhow agree on positive thoughts too. Take care and thinking of you on Friday. Is yours curly? Hi Kate I just saw your post, I had mastectomy in June 2014 and then chemo August-December 2015 so just finished a year ago, I was young too 40 when diagnosed. I hope you hear back from others and maybe join a monthly thread for chemo which i found invaluable (a range of ages on ours but everyone a wonderful support) It is great to communicate wth others going through the same thing at same time. Do you know when your chemo will start yet? Reading through others helped me before I felt confident to join in. As for wig, I dont know where you live but my hospital gave me a nhs voucher and told me a great place locally I could get a wig from using voucher so that would a great help and the ladies there were wonderful. I'd suggest as they did going for an appointment before chemo or in early stages if no time so they can see what your hair is like before. I didnt go for scarves like many did but I know there are some great places on net or leaflets in hospital. I did get 2 cheep ones in millets (like cotton snoods) they were great for wearing at home/night when cold. Anyhow take care and am happy to help try to answer any more questions. My advice is take each day as it comes and do take up offers of help! I had a PICC line and would recommend it as made things much easier as I have deep veins, but everyone is different. Hi do book an appointment to see your Gp soon. I had the same 9 years ago after one of my babies was born and I was referred to see someone, but thankfully the lump went as related to finishing breast feeding before I needed to go then. Hi Paula I dont know if you are still looking for insurance but when I needed travel insurance for a last minute  sunny Europe hols just before chemo and 6weeks post  mastectomy someone recommended the list of insurers in the Macmillan brochure on travel insurance. I rang Macmillan and they sent me a copy but I expect you could get online. I used a company called Insure pink who were very thorough in their questions and yet very sympathetic and helpful and at the time I found it very reasonable, might be worth a try giving them a call? It does all depend on different factors as I was lucky i hadnt got the start date for chemo when i booked which made premium alot less and them happier to insure. Hi to all the lovely August 2014 Ladies   Sorry I meant to post before Christmas and New year to wish you all a wonderful one but somehow I couldnt log in again and taken until now to reset password! Anyhow I hope you all had a good Christmas and found it easier than last year when most of us had just finished or were about to finish treatment.   I agree Alijay great not to cook with wig on , although my hair is just a mess of curls which cant seem to do a thing with so preferred the chic neat wig look! However I am very greatful to have some hair again and daily count my blessings. Yes tamoxifen takes getting used to I found it fine at first but nights and flushes bad and sleep deprevation takes its toll though had other things to worry about which doesnt help. Anyhow lets hope 2016 is a happy and healthy one for us all and thank you all for your amazing support last year, I will always remeber everyone's kind and wise words which got me through a difficult time, even though I dont post much now. So pleased I did it and raised lots of money for Breast Cancer Care. I was thinking of all of you wonderful ladies and how you kept me going though the yukky chemo and since then. Hi Bevster Well done to you on race and fundraising, I am impressed. Hope you are feeling ok now. I have my Pink Ribbon  night walk coming up in just under 2weeks so great to hear your achievement and will spur me on to keep walking.   Hope all lovely August ladies are doing well, been soo busy with work, trying to walk and general family life. Thankfully after a bit of a scare a few weeks ago after my annual check up am feeling ok again. I'd been having pain all round mastectomy site (like after surgery) was referred for ultra sound and thankfully despite pain all looked ok and nothing cancerous so was relieved. Am back doing post op excercises and bra at night and had been taking pain killers but stopped now as seems ok-no idea what it was but glad ok.   How are you doing Eileen? Hi Bevster Good to hear from you, wow impressed at you aiming to run the race, good on you. I know i'll be walking the 10 mile night one in London in July, when is yours? Will be thinking of you on Tuesday, I know it's hard, so be kind to yourself, I kept trying not to  think about it but know did get very snappy and anxious in few days before hoped to get results, busy is good!  Good news is when I rang last week it was clear so obviously am very happy and relieved! I asked at hospital and she said I could ring breast care nurse 7-10 days after so obviously I rang 7days after and luckily got them then but was told by lady doing mammogram they may not be ready. How are you doing at work? Tiredness certainly hitting me particularly when I've been asked to do extra supply days. Hi Bevster thats great and a positive step, where are you doing yours as know they are all over the place? Let us know links etc. Am doing the night walk in London on 5th July, (hoping will manage to be awake!). Yes Lots of memories from this time last year at mo. Year next week since diagnosed, I have my first mamogram since last year's opp on Tuesday which obviously  will be pleased when over as too many horrid memories from last one. I guess everyone is approaching or has had that? Trying to be positive but underneath it all am panicing! Hope you enjoyed week off and had some quality time with OH. Having worked 4 days this week I struggled to get up today thankgoodness a Bank hol weekend!
