Hi Paulalouise, I'm 30 and was diagnosed last month. I'm currently going through chemo, got my 3rd cycle next Wednesday. Will be having surgery after. If you are on facebook I recommend finding a secret group called younger Breast cancer network UK. We are all under 45 and its a fantastic group of ladies. You will get fantastic support there!! As the ladies have said, the chances are that the chemo you will be on will make you lose your hair. If where you have your chemo has the option of cold capping give it a try. It's hard work to start with but if you can cope there is a chance you will not lose all of your hair. I wasn't going to try the cold cap as I didn't think I would be too fussed about losing my hair, but thought I might regret not at least trying it. But I have my next chemo on the 3rd and tbh I kinda want my hair to start falling out loads so I can give up the cold cap (i find it quite painful and you are in the hospital a few hours longer)! Hi dee I can't answer your question but just wanted to come on and say that chemotherapy isn't as bad as you're thinking. I think tv and films make it out to be horrendous! I've had two cycles of chemo and it really wasn't that bad. First cycle I had no side effects at all, was worried they hadn't actually given me the right drugs to starry with! Second cycle, I had a couple of days feeling a bit sick but now am feeling absolutely fine and awaiting my third cycle on 3rd Dec. Hi Jenny, You are certainly not alone, the best thing you can do is talk to people going through the same. Really sorry you have had this diagnosis though 😞 I'm 30 with two small boys (one is 3 tomorrow and the other is 7 months) and was diagnosed on 8th Oct, Grade 3 invasive Ductal with nodes involved. At the moment I am going through Chemo first before any surgery, had my 2nd cycle last Wednesday. The waiting is definitely the hardest bit of it all. Once you have a treatment plan in place you will feel better. One thing I have found that is invaluable is a Facebook group for ladies under 45 with Breast cancer. The girls on there are brilliant and really help when you have any question you want answering day or night. There are plenty on there that have had more than one tumour in the breast too. Real shame about your trip away, sounds like it would have been a perfect time to get away for a bit. But hey, time to get yourself better and go after all this sh*t we've got to get through! You'll be able to do gardening just be careful at certain times after chemo. Good news is that I'm feeling fine 🙂 2nd chemo on Wednesday and not feeling sick at all. Felt quite tired yesterday but after a good nights sleep last night I'm feeling fine today. When I had my original ultrasound they scanned under my arm and found a mass. Think I knew there and then the results wasn't going to be good! The day I was diagnosed I had a biopsy of the lymph nodes and they said it was pretty certain it had gone there, and got my results the same time I got my ct results. But they reassured me that it's not the end of the world that's it gone to the nodes, pretty typical of a grade 3 tumour and they were just doing their job - stopping it going elsewhere! 🙂 They didn't tell me how many, I'm assuming I'll find all that out when I have surgery and have them removed. Hi Daisy I was diagnosed last month, grade 3 and in lymph nodes too. Having chemo first and the surgery. I had the ct scan the day after I was diagnosed and was a bloody nervous wreck! Just knowing why they were doing it was enough to set me off crying every 10 mins I think! It's common to do it though, it's not because they think it's spread, they just need to be 100% sure. I got the (all clear) result the next day from my breast care nurse thankfully so I could have a (relatively) stress free weekend!
