Hi Marty.Just wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow . Once you have your plan you will feel much better. I am having 6 chemo first to shrink it then a mastectomy but need to decide if I want expander at the same time or should I just leave it and get a prosthesis. Can t decide yet. Thanks Seabreeze I have been using the cold cap. Had 2 sessions of chemo and have lost quite a bit off the top but not noticeable to anyone else yet so wig can stay in box for a bit longer _ hopefully forever but it's there if I need it.x ... View more

Hi Kmaryj Hope you eventually got some sleep and no bad side effects. I feel so lucky not to have had any at all and have kept working up to now. Fingers crossed same happens on New Year s Eve when i have my second dose of chemo. Are you on three weekly cycles too ? I am having 3 FEC then another MRI to check it is shrinking and then another 3 cycles,then mastectomy,radiotherapy and hormone treatment for 5 years- God willing. Hi all. I had my first chemotherapy on December 10th and as yet had no side effects whatsoever.Is this normal ? I am worried it may not be working because of this.I am sure I read something about this before but can't find the thread anywhere. Hi Alison. So glad you are home and sound like you are doing well, Keep it up, x   I had my first FEC chemo on Wed 10th and it all went fine including the cold cap. As yet have had no side effects whatsoever so am just wondering when thay are going to start. It is like waiting for a bomb to go off. I know they can begin later but will keep on taking the anti sickness tabs and hope for the best.   Can't wait for surgery to come round to get this thing out of me.   Hugs to all xx Dee ... Hi Jets. Sorry you have had to join but you will find lots of help here. I too have lobular cancer diagnosed in Nov. The MRI is nothing at all to worry about. You lie face down with a gown on and your boobs drop through 2 holes in the table. A dye is injected into your arm and they slide you into the machine wearing earplugs as quite noisy. IT takes 20 mins and is fine. Then comes another long wait of about 5 days for the result. That is the worst bit as you have already found out. Hi all.Just had my first DEC this morning and used the cold cap.The first ten minutes were torture_ it felt like a lead weight on my head and neck and I got a headache straight away. Thought no way can I do this but after the initial ten minutes I was fine. It didn't feel heavy anymore and my headache went away by itself. All the way throughout my head did not even feel too cold - but the rest of my body was shivering. This might have been with nerves rather than the cold cap. Hi everyone. Unfortunately I am here to join the December chemo ladies (and men if any reading)   I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer in November and was hoping to have had my mastectomy yesterday but that all changed when my MRI results came back. Fortunately it is only in the one breast but what they thought was 1 cm turned out to be 6 cm and therefore too big to be certain they get it all without shrinking it first. It is not a 6 cm lump(in fact no one has actually felt a lump yet) but is more like a spider web effect i think as that is how lobular cancer grows.   I go Tuesday 9th to find out more about the chemo and actually have first session on the 10th. I am having FEC x 6 sessions with 3 week intervals and am petrified !!   After 3 sessions I will have another MRI to check if it is shrinking as lobular does not always respond to chemo. Thanks Alison My cancer is too big 6cm to do surgery first so starting chemo this week too shrink it then mastectomy with recon after that. Had to go that way as surgeon feared some might still be left behind if he did mastectomy on Dec 4th as planned and then i would have needed more surgery.
