Hi Mowser. I started getting pains in my right side sincer taking Cape, it flares up at night and gets better in the day when moving aroiund. I did not have any liver mets at my last scan in September, only in my bones, so I don't know now if this pain is caused by the tablets or something developing in my liver. I note you have taken them since March. Have you suffered pains and side effects all this time. Hello again. I thoiught I would see what had been happening on the thread, which I joined a couple of weeks ago whan I started my treatment. It is great to share other peoples' experiences. What really surprises me is how different our experiences are. I have now had 2 cycles and going to start the 3rd tomorrow. I have found it quite tough, feeling nauseous much of the time, my hair has stopped growing, I am getting pains in my side, possibly liver, and my hand and feet are a red and sore. And I cannoit stand anything sweet! I am going to have a word with my the nurse tomorrow to see if it is still OK to carry on with this dose. I have one more cycle before my scan on December 22nd to see if it has worked. So I just focussing on getting through this, and then see what comes next. I noted that someone mentioned taking it for 1 week and then 1 week off, that may be a better option if you have to carry on with it. I think the trouble is to keep positive whan you are not feeling terribly well. Someone (sorry cannot remember the names of you all) mentioned a TM count. Hi Thank you all so very much for your support and sharing your experiences with capecitabine. As you say everyone seem to be different and I can see I have been lucly so far. The feet and toe problem sounds pretty awful so I hope that passes me by. A bit of nausea I can deal with. How strange about the taste, although in my case I am sure it does me good to cut out the sweeter things from my diet, but not to be able to eat vegetables, that would be a real problem. Hi there. I am new on this forum and would like to intruduce myself. I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer nearly 3 years ago (bone mets). I missed the primary stage as the cancer had spread to my bones before being diagnosed despite having all the usual mammograms etc. My treatment until a few months ago has been hormones and a bone strenghening drug, and it has kept the cancer at bay with some radiotherapy. I have now been put on capecitamine and is on my second cycle of this. I think the idea is that I will stay on this drug if it does the trick and the side effects are tolerable. So far the side effects have not been too bad, mainly nausea. I have not so far had the hands and feet effect. I would be very interested to know other's experiences, i.e. do the SE get worse the longer the treatment or do you get 'acclimatised'. One odd SE is that my taste in food has changed, I cannot tolerate anything too sweet. Has anyone else had this? I have seen posts from some that have been on the rreeatment for some considerable time and that is very encouraging. I hope to hear from some of you, and wish you all the best. Else ... View more
