Hello CC Thank you so much for your message, it has made me feel so much better as I'm going for a Radiologist appt today to check out the lymph nodes and am terrified! Surgery is scheduled for the 21st and I've been reading her the "Mummy's Lump" book, she really likes it and asks for it every night, I then ask her if she has questions about my lump and she often has 2 or 3 and then goes to sleep quite happy! If you don't mind me asking, how long did your treatment take? I'm less than a year in my new job and want to set expectations with them about how long I will be off..Thanks, Helen xx

Hello Hope56 I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed on 30th December after finding a lump at the end of September and being told by 3 different Doctors that it was nothing! Good luck with your results, I will be thinking of you. The MRI confirmed that my Invasive DCIS is 5cm+ with swelling of the nodes so have an appointment with the Radiologist today. I've not been on the forums much but they really are starting to help xx

Thanks Sarah That's a really helpful message, I will get in touch with them and get hold of the booklets. My Husband lost his Dad to cancer so I think he's not happy with the word either. I hope your operation goes well and thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me, this forum is proving invaluable to someone waiting for results and recently diagnosed - I really don't feel alone any more! Hi ladies I was diagnosed with BC last week and am awaiting the results of my MRI to agree the treatment plan. My four year old daughter has been asking me all about "Mummy's owie" since she saw my biopsy plaster and I really am at a loss as to what to say to her. Should I be honest or pretend that nothing is happening? I want her to understand that things are not right, particularly if the treatment is aggressive and/or if a family member or friend says something to her. Does anyone have any recent experience and advice? Thanks, Helen xx

Hllo ladies Thanks so much for your advice and kind words, I will get straight onto the suggestions of front fastening pyjamas and bras - woudl never have tought of that - makes perfect sense! I am also so reflieved that you all agree that waiting is the worst - I was dreading things being worse than they were last week (particularly over xmas) but I'm so glad that's out of the way. Great to be able to chat with ladies who have been or are going through the same thing - friends and family are great but they can't be as honest with me as you can be and they are busy dealing with it themselves too. Hello all I was diagnosed on Tuesday following a biopsy and am awaiting an appointment with my Consultant to disucss my treatment plan following yesterday's MRI. Just wanted to start a thread so that I can talk to others who have been through the same thing. I have absolutley no idea what questions to ask or what to expect but all I can say is that I feel a damn sight better than I did when I was waiting for the diagnosis - I think it says a lot for the power of positive thinking! xx

Hi redcrop How did you get on today? Mine was confirmed as breast cancer and we have an MRI booked tomorrow so that we can agree the treatment plan, weirdly enough I actually feel relieved that I actually know what's going on! I hope that all is well with you xx

Hello everyone I've never used a forum like this before but I've been trying to maintain a brave face in front of my family over Christmas whilst being sick with worry.. I'm 36 years old with no family history of breast cancer, at the beginning of October I found a lump in my breast and went to the Doctor, he asked me to go through a menstrual cycle and come back in a month's time, I went back with the lump unchanged and was referred to a Consultant. I am lucky enough to have private medical insurance and saw the Consultant within 4 days, he was completely lassies-faire about the lump and said that he was not concerned at all by it but arranged an ultrasound to be absolutely sure. He almost made me feel like I was wasting his time. 3 weeks later I had the ultrasound and the radiologist had a completely different take on the situation, he said I definitely had a lump and he immediately arranged a mammogram and biopsy.... that was scary as hell as I was expecting him to be as relaxed as my Consultant. 3 days later I had the biopsy and saw the Consultant again who then told me that there is a lump and it is suspicious but until the biopsy comes back "we don't know what we're dealing with", I asked him about an upcoming trip to New York in January and he suggested that I cancel it but wouldn't really tell me much more as he wanted to see the biopsy results which are due back on Tuesday. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for from the forum, just some help in how people who have been through similar experiences have dealt with the waiting... thanks in advance... x
