I was diagnosed with BRCA2 five years ago. After watching my sister and an Aunt, also BRCA2 go through breast cancer, chemo, double mastectomies and reconstruction I also was diagnosed with breast cancer of my right breast. Thankfully I didn't need to do chemo. On August 12,2014 I had double mastectomies and expanders placed at the time of surgery. During that time I was dealing with nerve pain on my chest. So bad that I was exhausted and crying by the end of the day. Finally my Dr. prescribed Gabepentin to help heal the nerve damage from surgery. That did not help ease the pain at all so he prescribed Oxycodone to help ease the pain while the nerves were healing. IBP and Tylenol did not even touch the pain. Eventually the pain started to subside. Now for the new part. In October I had to have the left expander removed because of an infection that would not clear up with antiobiotics. After that surgery I noticed when I would eat salty foods my chest would feel tight and swollen even under my arm pit area. Which would cause the nerve pain to return. Has anyone else had this problem with salty foods? Hope you all have a healthy New Year!
