Don't say no to the radio xxxx Are there any charities around you that provide transport? My hosp is more than 60 mile round trip, the firefly charity provides free transport, so I only have to drive 10 miles to meet the bus . It's takingat least 5 1/2 hours out of my day, but worth not having the stress of driving and parking.ring them up and see if some of your pots can be changed. The charity were able to sort some of mine to fit in with them. I also am lucky not to have chemo, but other people have no idea the toll this journey takes on your mind and body. Hang on in there. Sounds like you need some new friends xxxx

I'm in a similar position, aged 58. WLE and SNB , just had 2nd of 15 rads. My oncologist gave me the choice of 5 years tamoxifen, 2 years tamoxifen and 3 years letrozole or 5 years letrozole. I have opted for the letrozole. Mainly because of sweats, weight gain and cholesterol issues with tam. I am pleased to take anything which will increase my chances by a tiny amount. I have a lot to live for xxx

Hi Cass, glad your op is over. The waiting is horrible, but it will go quickly, you have lots to keep you going with a 3 year old. But make sure you get plenty of rest when you can., I have been crossing days off on my calendar since Feb and looking back it has gone quickly (needing a new sick note now, I've been off 6 weeks!) First one done , 14 to go 🙂 was told the others would only take 10 minutes. Good cos my arms didn't want to come back down today. Major pins and needles in the fingers of my other hand (head of humerus broken 8 years ago) managed to keep flexing my fingers without moving owt else lol. Was out the house 5 1/2 hours! So glad to have transport but am feeling really trapped that this me for the next 14 week days. Yes I have told myself off very severely as I know I am very lucky and it will be over soon. Sorry for the moan xxx

Yes Judi, i was hoping to avoid the tropical, moments, but they appear to be creeping on. I'm only one week in and taking it as I go to bed, but find I'm waking up being hot and having flipping bad dreams! I'm unsure whether to brave it through or take something. The only reason I chose Let was I thought it wouldn't be as bad as the tamoxifen for these symptoms.(plus the weight gain!) the first time round was bad enough I took something that was later withdrawn and that was the only thing really worked for me. I see people have tried sage and there's also black cohosh and liquorice. But it's hard to know what encourages oestrogen. I'm scared of halving anything with soya in now. Arghh what about Chinese and soy sauce it's a minefield :-/. Xxx

Got a call today from a charity that provides transport for radiotherapy, that's next thurs and Friday sorted, what a relief, only about 25 miles to drive instead of over 60. What a blessing 🙂

Starting on April 9th for 3 weeks. Surprised to be starting on a Thursday, but I suppose I get a rest after two days. Came home with prescription of letrozole and big pump pack of diprobase cream, to start using immediately, twice a day in prep for the rads 🙂

The specialists will tell you when you can change, if you they say it's 5 years, then 3 won't be enough, I have been told it's either tamoxifen for5 years, letrozole for 5 years or 2 tam followed by 3 let. Got to tell them tomorrow, think I try full 5 let and see how I get on.but I going to do as I told, cos I want the cure to be total!

Hi Judith, I am 59 this year, but they still threw tamoxifen into the pot. Toss up between weight gain(weeble) and increased pressure on joints, or falling down n breaking something(clumsy me) and still having bone pain. One thing that has made me think though is risk of dvt with tam. Leaning strongly towards the letrozole and hoping they can fix bone thinning if it occurs. Let me know how you go on please x

Argghhhhh looked at all the other threads about this problem, but still don't know what to do. Wish they just said 'take this'. I have been feeling so positive up to this point because I have not had to contribute anything, just been told to 'go here, have this done' and I have been fine. Now feeling a bit uncertain.
