Hi ladies just thought I would let you know my experience Im about a month post end of treatment had surgery chemo and rads I had pain in my surgery side shoulder and arm for a while whilst on chemo someone suggested swimming to me so I started towards the end of my chemo slowly at first just a leisurely swim 20mins then built it up to 3 times a week and after a few weeks the pain had dissappeard ive since carried on swimming and added in other exercise but nothing to strenuous for my arms I hadn't thought anything of it until I went away for 10 days and didnt do any swimming and the pain started coming back so back from holiday and back to swimming the pain has gone again so I DEFINITELY would recommend it if you have issues with shoulder etc obviously check with gp but my consultant couldn't agree more that it helps so much hope that helps a bit nat xx ... Hi all I've been on tamoxifen for 2 months I know its not long but as others have said I've has the odd hot flush and ache in the morning but other than that nothing I've actually lost a stone with slimming world in the last 8 weeks since i started so definitely not a given with the weight gain !! Hi all Had my first rads today got there really early as there wasnt any traffic and I was in and out in 30 mins !! Very impressed no problems they got me in the right position straight away and then zapped away !! So very straightforward only issue was handed a "new" appointment time sheet !!!! All different from the last so need to sort out childcare AGAIN !! As for creams shell I brought a big tub of aqueous cream and then told today I could use any cream even the normal perfumed one I have so I will go back to that as the aqueous wasn't very nice I had a mastectomy and auxiliary clearance so different to you and have nerve pain and funny feelings in arm and chest every so often which is apparently normal can last for years !!! Its better than it was I've been back to swimming a couple of times a week and its really helped with strength as well Anyway back to rads 4pm tomorrow only 14 to go !!!! Nat xx ... View more

Hi ladies Glad it all went well Kim and glad u enjoyed your wine !! My first one Thursday is 8:55 am so hoping at that time they won't be running behind but who knows !! I've not been at work since diagnosis I work for the NHS and do long 12-14 hour shifts night and day so havent been allowed to work so been very lucky with sick leave sick pay etc I'm not looking forward to the day 10 fatigue !! feeling great at the moment 6 weeks on from Chemo and so far no se's from tamoxifen I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow Have a good day ladies Nat x ... I've been "lucky" so far had some minor issues with surgery got through Chemo OK thank goodness so fingers crossed rads will be the same my only worries are my appointments are at all different times of the day and my hospital is 1 hr drive away I'm a single mum to a four year old little horror so will have childcare issues bless her she will be here there and everywhere !!! I'm sure she will be spoilt I've got a rads Saturday morning because of bank holiday so I've promised her a visit to the Disney store after I may treat myself as well !!! (Not in the Disney store !!) Hi ladies No I wasn't advised to start cream before rads just swapped normal body lotion for aqueous yesterday just curious to see what it was like I'm thinking I might go to Holland and Barrett and get aloe vera though thanks for that dizzydee !! Hi  Im new to the forum but thankfully at the end of my treatment  just thought id post my experience as im 38 a single mum to a four year old little girl    I was diagnosed sept last year with grade 2, 5 cm idc a couple of lymph nodes involved  i had a mastectomy and auxiliary clearence in october and started chemo fec-t in december finished 4 weeks ago and im now waiting for 3 weeks of rads to start in a couple of weeks    Its all doable as u will see from many people on here  i explained everything from the start to my daughter ive read her mummys lump book on numerous ooccasions which really helped  she went to the disney store with my mum everytime i had my chemo (definitely  helped!! ) when i shaved my hair she was there i said what do u think she said yeah mummy can i go and play now !!!  I explained it would grow back after my medicine she is now waiting for cinderella to appear every morning !!!  I was lucky not to have any sickness on the chemo but did feel tired and achey  so i napped when i could went to bed early etc and asked for help when i needed it  im now 4 weeks post last chemo hair is growing back im back at the gym  energy is slowly getting there feeling much better  so what im trying to say is there is a light at the end of the tunnel  the first couple of weeks after diagnosis were hard then i had a plan and just wanted to get on with it  As for children i did find it really helped explaining everything towards the end she got bored of it and wasnt interested in mummy going to hospital !!! It meant disney store and time with nanny !!!  Ive just started tamoxifen  as mine was er+ going to be on them for 10 years !!!    Hope that helps and good luck with your treatment and stay positive  definitely  helps   Nat x     ...
