Well chemo brain kicked in last night whenI put the "bins" out and then remembered at 9.30pm  that today is Friday and not Tuesday - so outside in dressing gown  bringing them back in - could have been worse at least it was dry and dark!!! I asked about my flu jab and could have it 3 weeks after last chemo so will give it some thought. Have a good day one and all. I had the numbness for quite a while and at my pre chemo the assessing nurse said that was also a good indicator for a dose reduction as it may last longer next time around and for some people it never goes so well worth mentioning at your prechemo. Just got my dates through for radiotherapy - assessment etc on 16th November and then the 15 sessions begin on 3rd December last one 23rd December. What is everyone doing about a flu jab -I intend to ask if it is a good idea when i go tomorrow - have always had one as I work in the NHS and now we are probably in an "at risk group". Tax 2 tomorrow then husband away for 3 weeks so have stocked up on lots of comfort foods to keep me going. Might actually be easier just pleasing myself and can be bad tempered if I want, talk to the Tv if I want and generally give a running commentary on the rugby games. Have friends to call on if required but with 10% less it may be over with a bit quicker and be a smaller truck that hitsme this time. Hope yourswent well Laura. Hi My first Tax hit me on the friday follwoing the Wednesday dose and so looking forward to the next one next week -not but 10% reduced dose might be easier -hope so as I will be on my own for this one and the days afterwards. FEC gave me really bad indigestion and got the GP to prescribe omeprazole which worked really well. Just thought I would share that on this lovely saturday evening.Enjoy the weekend . ... View more

Hi Josie The tax bus let me off on day 9 and wow what a relief - you will get there. My oncologist decided for the next to reduce the dose by 10% so hopefully SEs won't be as bad. Like you I was reluctant to take the co-codamol but had a half dose a coule of times to get through the night. Chin up ... View more

Hi Some people carry on with the cold cap despite the hair drop - it really depeneds how much you started with and how much you have left - I lost quite a lot and it was really thick so decided it might be a bit painful on the second one so stopped - shh..... still have a bit of hair left. With regard to the T well it wasn't very nice - had it last wednesday and today is the first day I have felt human - pain and muscle aches were fairly well controllable with the painkillers -just feel crap for longer- at the end of the day it must be doing it's job and as far as I'm concerned that's great. It's only a short slot of time to feel like rubbish in the big paln of things. Have to take a step at a time - get the 3 FEC out of the way then move onto the next.   Joyce   ... View more

Hi I had my first T last wednesday - bit of a different ballgame! All of it is doable -I saw the oncologist for followup this week and she is going to reduce my next dose by 10% - I took some persuading that this was a good idea but she really felt in the big plan of things it wouldn't make a difference and it is about tailoring the treatment. Since the second FEC I have had no more hair fall out - mind you I could probabbly still pass for Yul Bryner but no longer feel the need to hoover my head. SEs seem to vary so much from one to the next  - chin up keep going.   ... View more

Just seen the oncologist who has suggested that the next dose of T should be reduced by 10% - I took some persuading but she asssures me in the big plan of things it will not make a differenence but will make it more bearable. Rads 4 weeks after chemo finishes and so ought to be treatment over by Christmas then to redjust!! ... View more

Who needs sleep - the plus side is I feel as though apart from a grumbling headache I might have come out the other side from the first T. Don't feel so washed out - oncologist tomorrow so a few questions to ask. This T bus seems to be slowing down but not before it's given me oral thrush and a dose of nystatin - hope it doesn't delay my next chemo  although to be fair an extra week would be lovely. Feeling a bit brighter this morning and the overwhelming fatigue seems less evident - never spent so much time in bed. Had my ears pierced about 40 yearsago and now am letting them heal up as they are sore andcannot get the earrings in - will buy clip ons and get them done again afterwards - has anybody else experienced this with pierced ears? ... Tax "bus" won't move on feels like someone has come into the bedroom overnight and trapped each of my fingers in a door, stamped on my thumbs, replaced my brain with cotton wool and has a range of needles for all other joints - not really expecting this - bring back the FEC at least I would have had a drink of wine to look forward to today !!
