This has worried me a little as I'm on Anastrozole and have been sprinkling two tablespoons of the stuff on my Weetabix each morning for the last month! I'd read it was good for breast cancer. I'll stop now. We're bombarded with conflicting advice. x

An interesting thread. I've been on the Accord brand since September 2015 with no obvious side effects. I ache a little, feel tired sometimes in the afternoons sometimes..but I'm 55 and would imagine I'd feel like this without the drug anyway. I was ER/PR 8/8 so will take it for 5-10 years if I'm allowed to.

I found this interesting too Jill as my path report says 'clear margin' 4mm. Now does that mean the surgeon just took 4mm to be safe ....mine was deep by chest wall so maybe that's why more was taken although BC nurse says 'nearest margin was anterior wall'. It's strange you sit there..listen..don't query anything and when you get home you wish you had. This was yesterday at annual review. Still waiting for mammogram.x

Last year I was diagnosed at beginning of May then waited 7 weeks for a lumpectomy. This was due to mysurgeon being on holiday - I was offered an appointment at 4 weeks with a different surgeon but wanted to wait for mine as he was 'clinical lead'. I then waited 13 weeks for radiotherapy!! This was due to the Dept being overwhelmed with cases (not just breast cancer). Most ladies on this site are treated within 8-10 weeks post surgery so I have worried all year about 'delays'. However I was Grade One and hopefully all will be okay. I was also told that higher grade ladies jumped the queue which is fair, but I it's a pity there are not more resources within the NHS cancer departments to cope with an increasing demand.

I don't understand these odds. I had a grade one er8/pr8 is and Onc told me, without radiotherapy, I had a 25% chance of recurrence. So I had it. 15 sessions. I'm assuming with Anastrozole odds are now 3%. We seem to all be told different things but I suppose it depends on grade, size and receptors?

Yes. I had a lumpectomy last June and then radiotherapy 13 weeks later. I'm now on Anastrozole for 5 years. I'm 55. It was a complete shock as it was picked up on a mammogram. I couldn't feel it. I was very lucky as it was a 10mm Grade One er/pr+ lump which was possibly the best outcome I could wish for. Treatments for BC are fantastic so please try not to worry to much (impossible I know) and let us know how you get on on the 20th. This forum is an excellent source of support.

I'm very sore 12 months post lumpectomy and 7 months post rads. It's really annoying as it heightens my anxieties. My bc breast is slightly larger, fuller, harder and very tender when pressed. The scar area is sore and lumpy and my ribs ache.My bc was at 6o'clock on the breast so any bras aggravate it and going bra less doesn't help either. It is, I hope just an annoying side effect.My annual mammogram is on 5th July so I'll address all my woes then. If everything is fine then I shall stop worrying and just live with it as it's isn't debilitating, just 'there'.

Hi Sian. The radiologist told me straight away "yes that's cancer" just like that. I was stunned but at least I knew what to expect. The result of the ultrasound gave me the grade and type (although not 100% until after surgery pathology). She could be wrong but the fact she's implied it makes me think otherwise. The treatments for bc are fantastic but the waiting in between appointments are the worse times. Keep us posted.

Although my diagnosis was different I was diagnosed beginning of May last year, waited until 22 June for lumpectomy, had results on 8th July (grade one er8/pr8) went on hols on August 1st then didn't have rads until end of October! This suited hospital as they were 'overwhelmed' with bc cases last year and the Rad Dept was so so busy. I was told all along that the wait wouldn't have had an adverse effect. Incidentally a friend of mine went private and saw top Breadst Cancer Prof in Harley Street. She was operated on before Xmas and waited until April for her rads as he wanted her to have use of 'top machine' (whatever that is). She was a grade 2 idc. No lymph involvement. She holidayed in between too.

I'd be interested to learn if anyone else had a tumour in the lower inner quadrant area of breast?Mine was left breast at 7 o'clock. Reading on the USA forum it says that tumours in this region are more likely to met eventually and have aworse prognosis as they can drain to the inner mammary glands which are not routinely checked and are extremely difficult to detect/treat. Anyone else heard about this? Getting a bit twitchy. x

HI Lisa. I'm so sorry you've had to join us but you'll get through this. The treatment and care you receive for BC is second to none and we are all here to offer you support. I was diagnosed a year ago and thought it was the end but after surgery and treatment, I'm okay and living my life. You may want to post on the Diagnosed with Breast Cancer Board...the ladies on there are brilliant. xx

I don't believe that. How ridiculous. You are in the system. You should be seen straight away. I was told if I ever have any concerns at all, ever, over next 5 years I can just ring BC nurses at hospital and they'll squeeze me into Clinic. I'm so annoyed for you. xx

Hi. I waited 13 weeks! I wasn't happy but the Departments in two different teaching hospitals (one of which I could choose) were overwhelmed with cases. Another lady waited 15 weeks. You're lucky if you get your appointment within 8 weeks.

I just wondered, especially since the Press have reported it today, whether anyone takes low dose aspirin in the hope of preventing a recurrence? I have decided to take it alongside Anastrozole. It appears, after various studies, that it could prove to be very beneficial.(I know for ladies with stomach complaints etc it is not recommended). Anyone else taking it? Cx

Hi. I was diagnosed beginning of May 2015 and had lumpectomy 22 June, didn't get rads until end of October as overwhelmed with cases, and was told first Mammogram would be July 2016. This was at Solihull Hospital. I assume all Trusts vary slightly. Not looking forward to it as still have very tender boob and scar 10 months on.
