I went to the breast care department this week and had an ultrasound scan, which showed that the lump is healthy tissue. - it is thickening due to radiotherapy. What a relief!

I had breast cancer last year and had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy, which finished just before Christmas. I have been waiting for my first mammogram since treatment, to show me that all signs of cancer had gone. I had the mammogram four weeks ago and the letter eventually came back saying no worrying features. However in the meantime I have noticed another lump. I went back to the GP and she has referred me back to the breast care department again to get it checked out. Does anyone have experience of this? I am getting more and more worried about it as my appointment on Tuesday approaches. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone.

Hi I have a similar situation. I had breast cancer last year and had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy. I have recently had my first mammogram since treatment, which has come back clear, however I have found another lump and have been referred by my GP back to the breast care department. I am waiting for the appointment, but am confused as to how the mammogram did not pick it up if it is harmless. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks

I had breast cancer last year, with a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This finished in December and I was relieved that it was all over! I have been waiting for my first mammogram since treatment, which I had two weeks ago. Just before my mammogram I noticed another lump in the same breast as I had the cancer in. I mentioned this at the mammogram appointment. It is now 15 days since my mammogram and I have heard nothing. People keep telling me that it is a good sign that it is taking so long for the results to come back, but I am concerned about the lump. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
