been trying to knock this infection on the head- the last lot of antibiotics make me feel pretty ill but think we are slowly getting there. have a whole body CT scan in just over a week then hope to start chemo....

Hi Bazza was doing well until today- have had a lot of fluid build up on both mastectomy sites and had about 3 pints taken off last week. unfortunately on the right side where i had the lymph nodes out i now have an infection. I saw the Oncologist today- a lovely Doctor and now have an idea of whats coming! am starting FEC-T regime in 3-4 weeks time followed by radiotherapy and then Tamoxifen after that- at some point i'll be having my ovaries out too once the chemo is done. I think now the worst bit is waiting the next 3-4 weeks! Hey Ho xx

so sorry to hear what you are going through. The waiting is dreadful and it does sound like they are taking rather a long time about it. Might be worth going back to your GP about the depression. I really don`t think you should leave things to chance- breast cancer is generally painless until verty advanced so just because it doesn't hurt doesn`t mean it is not spreading. I really hope you get your answers soon and have a plan xx

Hi- frustrating as waited for 1 1/2 hours for the consultant to find out resuts would be another week. I did get some fluid drained off which gave a bit of relief. I already know i will be having chemo as its grade 3 and in the lymph nodes so it isn`t delaying treatment only delaying me knowing what the plan is- that's what i struggle with most. I will take your advice and get onto the chemo threads though once i have a little more of an idea x

Hi everyone I'm new on here- hoping to find and give support on this windy road. I found a breast lump only 5 weeks ago (i'm 44) because i carry the BRCA2 gene defect i had a mammogram last year and check my breasts very regularly. i found the lump and made sure to see my GP the next day who referred me and i was seen by the consultant 2 weeks later- 1 week later my results confirmed a grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma and i had a larger area of DCIS in that same breast. 5 days later i had a double mastectomy ( the genetic stuff meant that was really the best way forward) they did Sentinel lymh node biopsy at the time and found cancer cells so i've had the full axillay clearance on that side. that was only last week and i'm back for final results today. Its all happened so fast i don`t think i've really had chance for everything to sink in. I have been told that i will need chemotherapy and i guess i'll knowmore later today- getting through the surgery was my worry but now i'm slowly mending i guess i'm pretty freaked out about what happens next. It seems there are so many different stories and experiences and it would be good to see what others are dealing with and how they are coping.
