Hello Alabamasam, There is an option to get your own DN to come round, but looking at the advisory notes on how this is done is sooo  complicated, its about 5 pages of instructions, I really dont want them to mess up if they dont do these on a regular basis, this thing is directly into your jugular, so just want it to be done right, Chriesties is about 20 mins from me, so its not too bad, and they do this day in day out, so I know its right, getting a bit paranoid about infections, im always wiping things down with dettol wipes !! ... Hi All,  sorry have'nt posted on here for a few days !  Good luck Jen Jen for the 2nd Session tommorow. I'm at Christies 3 times in as many days soon.  Having my central line fitted Wednesday, then back for bloods Friday in prerparation for 2nd session Monday 16th.  I will need to go back every week then (as well as the visits for bloods and session) to have the line flushed. I will certainly be finacially supporting  their car parks !!  I feel very fortunate in that I have only fely fatigue for a couple of day (days 4-6 after 1st session), no really bad side affect, just aching hips (random I know !!)  I'm paranoid about germs though, I'm going through a packet of dettol wipes a day, handles, taps, light switches etc.  I hope I'm not alone in this ?  Dotti, I cold capped and the machine type ones dont need topping up, they continue to supply icy liquid to the cap. ... Hello ladies, not been on for a while, day 2-5 of 1st chemo were interesting !!   I felt absolutely wiped out.  I am usually running about doing this and that all day, but not recently, just couldnt muster up any enthusiasm for anything.  Day 6 today and oh my I have felt fantastic, loads better, loads of energy.  Been shopping (twice), been to see mum, then cooked a full meal for family !  So it looks like there will be good and bad days.  Hope you are all feeling ok with SE's and also coping with your first sessions this week xx   ... Morning Ladies,   VG glad you had a good nights sleep and are feeling better today.  Great News about Bobbie and worrying about Jen Jen !!   Lesley starting Chemo Friday, its great to get a date !!   1 day after chemo i'm feeling ok, didnt get much sleep, tossing and turning, hot then cold (bloody central heating !)  had my anti sickness and steriod tablets, just the injection at 1pm now.  Keep checking temp, its been steady at 36.2 now for a while.  Its something you are advised to do several times a day as this can indicate the start of an infection.  Need a few days to go through some of the infornation and leaflets you get on your first session !  xx   ... Hi Lesley and VG,  Also had my first chemo today at Christies Manchester.  appt at 08.30 so go there are 7.30 to miss the traffic, the plan was to go into their restaurant and have breakfast first, mistake !  It didnt open until 8.30, I explained that I needed something to eat before I had Chemo ( I only had Giner Biscuits with me !), so she made me some toast.  Got into my chair at 8.40, and left it at 1.30.  Some time is spent with you on your first session explaining the treatment and SE's  and getting leaflets.  they had a problem with finding a vein (over an hour, Yuk !), then 30 mins pre cold cap, then chemo drugs (approx 45 mins) and finally another 1.5 hours after chemo with the cold cap.  All in all a long day,but it has to be done.  Because of thr issue with the vein (I really cant be doing that every time), I'm having a line put in just before my next session.  Yeah I wonder how Jen jen is, I suppose if you are feeling a bit under the weather, the last thing you want to do is go on line.  Im feeling fine, ive had a large dinner and then some pineapple and cream, I think im just lucky, or am I just jumping the gun in thinking that !! ... Hi Jen,  Well Done, thats the first one out of the way,hope you still feeling ok (well as ok as can be).  Ive tried a dummy run to Christies today, what a nightmare, the Sat Nav in my car sent me to Wilmslow Road but the wrong end, so I was trawling up and down the Curry Mile like a numpty !!  I gave up in the end, will try again before im due for Clinic on Thursday before 1st session next Monday.  Ive been to Salford Royal today for the "Look Good Feel Better" make up session,it was fantastic, 2 hours of learning skin care and clever make up tips for loss of eyebrows/ eyelashes etc.  Each person received a goodie bag, Bloody Hell it was full of Lancome, Clinque, Armarni stuff and lots of make up too, Fantastic, see if you can book on, the next one is January 2016, ring MacMillan at salford royal if you are interested.     Well done and good luck to all that have started/will start this week, we can do this !!!!!!!!!! ... Hi Lesley,  Yep first Session is Mon 16th Nov, then 3 weekly for 4 session.  Should be feeling ok for Xmas but with a session on 28th Dec I think New Year may be a washout !!  How brave of you to go back to work, are you planning to still go during Chemo ?? ... View more

Hi Dawn,  Thanks for that info, I called the company today and hopefull they may be able to work out a rental for me and deliver to the hospital, I also enquired about buying a unit and then donating to the Christies, the cost if £7500 for a single  head unit and £9500 for a double head unit, I would love to be able to work something out for them, as they are saving our lives, perhaps have a charity night ?. ... Hi Jen,   Yes looks exactly the same !!..  Im under Mr Wilson Too, how strange !!.   hes lovely and put me at ease with several things, especially diet, I have been going a bit over the top with Organic and no dairy, but he said that I just need a balanced diet to keep healthy and the chemo will take care of the rest !!  Yeah I know someone who went to Nicky Oliver for her wig, its very expensive but worth it I hear.   did go to dimples this morning and came away with a long layered one, its not real hair but I thought it was until she told me, its really nice, im off out in it tonight.  Its something I will wear for just getting out and about and not have to mess with my hair.  I paid for this myself, it was £185, but I also will be getting a shorter one for day to day use but I will be using my NHS voucher to get that.  Dimples also do Eyebrows, we look good but wont be getting them until I need them.  They are available at the Dimples shop in Christies.  I'm 49 and live in Barton, Eccles.  If you want to meet up anytime that would be great. Hi Jen jen,   You and I are very similar, I just received my CT scan results Friday and no spread, I actually burst into tears when he told me because I had been imagining the worse as he had brought my appointment forward 1 week (well you do dont you !), turns out it was just his secretary got the wrong weeks, so he could see me 1 week earlier.  3 or 4 x EC, then 12 x Taxol for me too. then lymph node removal surgey, then radio therapy, is that your journey too ?? ...
