Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hello. My name's Elaine and I am 47 with 2 boys - 4 and 7. Not sure where to start but I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago with grade 3 cancer - at the time they said the lump was small -1.2 cm I think - and that they would do a lumpectomy. I have my mri tomorrow which I'm guessing should either confirm, or deny, that. Results on Friday. The first week I just cried, but the second I've been really up and down - sometimes euphoric just to be alive, other times getting through it with black humour and other times reverting to crying. As I've read over and over on here, the wait is the worst bit - completely doing my head in and I'm just at the start of this life changing journey. I have an operation booked in for the 15th, we're supposed to be moving house on 23rd and I've just been offered a new job - talk about all at once!! Can any of you who have already had your operation let me know how long you were in hospital for and how you felt the week after? My mum had a mastectomy 7 years ago and was on a drip for a week - is that standard or would it just be for a lumpectomy? Thanks Elaine x
