Hi everyone, had my first session this morning, and as predicted was not as bad as I expected, even managed to go for some lunch when we came out was nice to just sit back and relax. Morning ladies, got my bloods today and forst chemo tomorrow, must admit not as anxious as I was, not looking forward the the next 6 months but I now feel it's doable. Sorry you had to join us jules007 but welcome anyway! I am trying to stay positive, and normal for as long as possible, I know it's going to be really hard but doable. Hi Fiona, my first one is Wednesday 21st had my Echo cardiograph this morning all went well. Looking forward to the weekend with my girls last one as my normal self going to try getting out and about as much as possible. Hope you have some nice plans yourself. Hi Kaz, sorry to hear you diagnosis, I was diagnosed with DCIS as well back in July., aged 43. I had never had any surgery before either and originally asked for immediate reconstruction to get it all over with at once,but unfortunately there was no plastic surgeon available to discuss it with until mid October so I decided to go ahead withy mastectomy and go for reconstruction at a later date. I have only been fitted with my prosthetic about 4 weeks and have no problems with it as long as I wear a post surgery bra. Hope all goes well for you what ever you decide. Hi everyone, thank you so much for your reassuring words, not feeling as anxious now about next week, going for a echo cardiograph tomorrow. The nurse advised me not to try the cold cap as she said with the combination I'll be having I will definitely lose my hair. Hi, I am really new to all this. Due to have my first chemo next week 22nd October, I will be having 6 sessions of FEC80 been told by my oncologist that the side effects will be minimum due to dosage, not sure what to expect, I'm feeling very anxious and scared at the moment. hi thanks for the reply.  My oncologist would not recommend that i needed chemo but said it was entirely my decision if I wanted it as the additional % was minimum.  I hope you are feeling good after your chemo and long may it last sending you a big hug xx ... View more

Hi kaka, how did you get on I'm currently sitting with the same results as yourself and have just been told I have a 90% chance of the cancer not coming back but if I want chemo I could have a 95% chance of it not coming back. My oncologist had left the decision with me really confused at the moment. Will also need to take tamoxifen for the next 10 years.  ... View more

Hi Claire, I was also in your position with a holiday unfortunately we had to cancel due to my surgery being done 3 weeks before we were due to go if you can you should go and try to enjoy ( I know it's easier said than done). I have since had all my results back was grade 2 er+ her2- with no nodes involved. They gave me a 90% chance that the cancer will not return without chemo and if I wanted to go for it a 95% chance it won't return I have still to make my decision. My worry is also losing my hair as I'm only 43 with 2 small children, really confused at the moment not sure if the pros out way the cons at the moment as I feel it's really high odds of it not returning.
