I had an ultrasound last week - lumps in mastectomy area and armpit turned out to be scar tissue and fluid - pain is still there but I am relieved.

Hi Janey2, I hope that you get an appointment arranged shortly. I had my Dexa Scan on the same day that I completed radiotherapy; unfortunately they forgot to prescribe Anastrozole! X

I am now taking Anasrozole alongside Natecal D3 (600mg) and weekly Alendronic Acid. The Alendronic Acid was prescribed after a Dexa Scan showed thinning bones. Good luck with rads jak60 - the only gruelling thing that I found with rads was the daily 120 mile round trip otherwise, all was grand. X

It was the surgeon who told me immediately after the operation that my lymph nodes were clear so it was a complete shock two weeks later when the pathology results contradicted his claim. This is also at odds with the definition of macrometastasis. X

Hi Strudel, I was mistakenly told after initial ultrasound and subsequent SLNB (nuclear tracer/day before mastectomy and blue dye/day of mastectomy - no 'blue' side effects) that my lymph nodes were clear. I was subsequently informed after pathology report that two nodes (out of two) were diseased - one node micro and the other macro. Microscopic (or minimal): Only a few cancer cells are in the node. A microscope is needed to find them. Gross (also called significant or macroscopic): There is a lot of cancer in the node. You can see or feel the cancer without a microscope. I went on to have a further 14 nodes removed and these were found to be clear.

After ultrasound and sentinel node removal I was told that my nodes were clear - on receiving pathology report this was not the case!

Hi, I had my mastectomy in Jan 2016 and node removal in Feb 2016 - it is only now that it is painful. I now have pain going down my arm and my shoulder is now clicking in and out of joint. This is particularly awful first thing in the morning. I had pain in my ribs for a few weeks but thankfully that has now eased. Good luck. X

Hi, I started radiotherapy on Thursday past. I also have to take Anastrozole but I have not been any guidelines as to when I should start taking it. Is anybody else taking Anastrozole, and if so, are you taking it alongside radiotherapy or have you been advised to take it post radiotherapy? Thank you.

Well, a week after my final chemo treatment I was once again admitted into hospital - neutrophils had dropped to zero and continuing problems with mouth. Having lost all my finger nails my toe nails are starting to fall off. I am now waiting to hear when my raiotherapy will start - this will be a drag as I will have to make a daily round trip of 120 miles! Hope all is going okay for everyone else.

Hi Daffodil, Thank you for your thoughts. Well I had my final chemo yesterday and it was fine. After my recent hospital stay I had nearly two weeks of mouth-free issues but oral thrush suddenly reappeared on Sunday evening nearly four weeks after previous treatment. All my fingernails on my right hand have popped off and nails of left hand are ready to go - this is very debilitating. District Nurse has just been to give an injection of Neulasta and I have an appointment with a consultant next Thursday to discuss radiotherapy. Best wishes to all. X

I was supposed to have had my final chemo yesterday but this did not happen as my ulcerated armpit has yet to heal. Spent a few days in hospital last week due to the fact that both my haemoglobin and neutrophil levels had dropped significantly - blood transfusion ensued. During this past week my finger nails on my right hand have 'popped' off - hey ho, it can only get better. Best wishes to all. X
