Accessing Support - Virtual Speaker session - Monday 23 November 2020 Breast Cancer Now have recently started running regular virtual meetings for people living with secondary breast cancer across the UK. You can find out more about these meetings here:   www.breastcancernow.org/lwsbc-online As part of our schedule of virtual meetings we are holding a session around Accessing Support This takes place on   Monday 23 November 2020 11am- 12.30pm This session is led by our CNS, specialising in secondary breast cancer, Catherine Priestley. The session explores being an ‘empowered patient,’ and who is there to offer support (especially challenging during the current period). There will be information and signposting to Breast Cancer Now services and other organisations, as well as looking at how to get the best out of your healthcare professionals during the current crisis. Breast Cancer Now have recently started running regular virtual meetings for people living with secondary breast cancer across the UK. You can find out more about these meetings here:   www.breastcancernow.org/lwsbc-online As part of our schedule of virtual meetings we are holding a session around Relationships and Secondary Breast Cancer. This takes place on Friday 13 November 2-3.30pm 2020. This online speaker session will be hosted by counsellor Melanie Lockett (BACP) and will be a chance to explore some of the difficulties you may be facing when navigating various relationships alongside having a secondary breast cancer diagnosis, as well as tackling isolation or loneliness in the current crisis. The session will aim to offer some useful coping strategies on how to manage feelings around different relationships and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. Hello, This may be of interest to some of you who would like to find out more about breast cancer risk and prevention. It is open to anyone living in the Greater Manchester area.  To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Manchester Breast Centre (MBC) is hosting and online event to share the scientific developments with members of the public. This seminar is the first in a new services of MBC public engagement events, and will focus on the risk factors and prevention of breast cancer. For anyone around the North West region, we have 2 Information Days coming up at our Liverpool and Manchester Living with Secondary Breast Cancer groups.   They meet monthly, and alternated a speaker session with a meet-up. The Information Days happen annually and have a session led by a specialist nurse giving an overview of secondary breast cancer, treatments, coping with SE's etc, and a chance for the group to ask questions. Our new Moving Forward Course in Crewe is starting on 2 May, and runs each Wednesday morning for 4 weeks. We will be covering topics such as Adjusing and Adapting after a diagnosis, Managing Menopausal Symptoms, and much more. It's a great chance to meet other people in your local area and share experiences. It's aimed at anyone who has finished their hospital-based treatment for primary breast cancer. We have 2 new Moving Forward courses starting in the New Year: Wigan and Crewe.   Our Moving Forward courses are designed for people who have finished their active treatment for primary breast cancer. They are a good way of gathering useful information from experts, as well as support from Breast Cancer Care, and meeting people with similar issues.
