Inverted nipple?

I had a mammogram 6 days ago and the radiographer bluntly told me my left nipple was inverted. I was horrified I hadn’t noticed it, I do check my breasts quite regularly so it was a complete shock. Went to see my GP for some further info. She examined me and said she could feel nothing which would concern her. Needless to say I am in a state of worry waiting for the results of the mammogram. Anyone with experience of this? I have read it could be cancer sooooo worrying.
I am 68 and can’t concentrate on anything
