Brain mets and new drug regime

Hello lovely ladies,

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. Over the years the cancer has spread to my lungs, liver and bones. It has now spread into my brain which I only found out about when I had a seizure about 4 weeks ago. No symptoms before that! I’ve now had 5 sessions of radiotherapy to the brain and the plan going forward is for me to be treated with 3 drugs Tucatinib, Capecitabine, and Herceptin.

Has anyone else been offered this drug combined regime and if so how have you got on?

Hello Summerblue,

I haven’t but had carboplatin alongside my first chemo docetaxol & herceptin 9 years ago on diagnosis.

I understand Tucatinib is newer (didn’t realise it had NICE sign off / funding for bc) & can pass blood brain barrier, used for brain mets of other cancers.  Carbo apparently is thought to as well.

So, you may not find much experience but wish you luck on it & will be interested to hear how you get on.

How are you doing? I do hope things are moving in the right direction.
