Is she in the uk ? If so, blood is given by kind volunteers to help those that need. Blood is screened fully and in the uk we have some of the strictest regulations on who can donate. Blood is a precious resource and not prescribed lightly, so if she has been prescribed a unit, she really will benefit from it. It is hard to wrap your head around, but if she views it as medicine to help her get better, that might be easier for her. I have hooked up many, many units during my time as a nurse, all without problems. The only problem we have is there is not enough of it. I had given 25 units by the time I was diagnosed. I can’t give anymore so I just nag all my friends and family to do so. I hope she gets on ok .
