I think that the media focus on breast health is a great thing, advising women what to look for and recounting real life stories etc, but I also think it can inevitably lead to raised anxiety (it’s hard to encourage women to be aware of their breasts without prompting some anxiety). So your worries are not abnormal and most women will feel anxious at times, especially after your experiences of pain and lumps in the past.
That being said, you know your breasts better than anyone else and it’s always best to follow up on anything that worries you.
I am wondering if you would be able to get a second opinion; not because I think your specialist was necessarily wrong, but because it feels that you weren’t reassured by the tests carried out. I’m guessing you might end up having to pay for a private ultrasound but if it reassures you it may be worth looking into.
The breast care nurses on here are very kind and helpful and would be able to give you better advice than me - they can be contacted on
