I have had so many issues with my boobs, they cause me so much anxiety. May 2024 I had scans due to pain, a mammogram and ultrasound showed nothing. In June 2024 I found a lump in my left breast, it wasn’t clear what it was on ultrasound so I had a biopsy which was clear.
Fast forward to now, Tuesday I had an appointment due to what looks like puckering in my left breast, only visible when arms are raised. The specialist felt it was just loss of volume and sagging in that area (I’m a 34b) but did a mammogram, the mammogram came back clear and was compared against my last one, however I feel anxious as I know when you have dense breasts the mammogram can hide things as dense breast tissue and cancer shows as white. I asked the specialist why she didn’t do an ultrasound and she said if there were a link she would have, but she wasn’t concerned and a mammogram was sufficient.
My report reads:
It was a pleasure to see you in the Breast Clinic today with my Breast Care Nurse, Irene Lyon. You are 39 years of age,
and you complain of indentation in the left breast which you noticed on raising your arms recently. There is no history of a lump and no pain in the breast. In your medical history, you take Cabergoline for raised prolactin. You have had
one child who was not breastfed. There is no family history of breast cancer.
I have requested bilateral mammogram and this shows a dense glandular pattern. The mammogram was checked in
comparison to your previous one and there is no significant change. There are no adverse features seen. I have
informed you of these results and advised that this can be left alone, and I have discharged you from the Breast Clinic.
I will keep vigilant but can’t get past my anxiety and now even more so because of the density
