Hi I posted earlier today on a different part of the forum. My first mammogram last year last year revealed left breast dcis, had a wle with clear margins. Had my first anniversary mammogram last week and they Have called me back for a mammogram and u/s and possibly a biopsy for my Right breast with a thickening of 1.5cm, I’m unaware of this thickening. Back on Friday, they’ve so far graded it as 3 as they are unsure either way. Just when you feel life is moving on…

Im in a similar boat. I went for my first 12 month check up after last year’s surgery for grade 2 IDC and the surgeon felt a tiny lump in the skin of my reconstruction so Im waiting for an ultrasound appointment.
Its really disheartening isnt it when youve come so far in recovering from initial treatment to then have yhe possibility of more treatment.

Thanks and I’m sorry you’re in limbo too. I’m doing the sensible thing of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Please let me know how you get on, hopefully it’s just scar tissue. Xxxx

Hi tuttifruitti have you got any further with investigations yet?
I saw surgeon on Monday. He said I have significant capsular contracture afte radiotherapy damage . My options seem to be complete removal of reconstruction, lipomodelling( dont like the sound of that)! New DIEP reconstruction but all depends on the new lump being NED. I have ultrasound on 23rd to check its just scar tissue or fat necrosis xx

Thank you for checking in with me. Thankfully it was all ok, 3d mammogram and u/s determined it was normal and possible squashed tissue during first anniversary mammo. V relieved.
Sorry to hear that it’s capsule contracture, which will obviously need further intervention, I’ve my fingers crossed that your u/s will show it purely as a complication of that. Keep us updated, the wait can feel like purgatory but hope you’re ok xx

Glad to hear all turned out ok. We do keep having these scares dont we! I think it will be a bit of a wait to get my capsular contraction sorted. Ive been referred to the plastic surgeon but to be seen within 6 months!
I guess that could change if this little lump turns out to need removing. I feel a bit up in the air atm. Scan not till end of next week. Xx
May i ask what area you are in the UK? From reading on the forum there seems there can sometimes be a postcode difference in appointment waiting times for people. Plus I’m aware there is a massive shortage of Radiologists in the UK too.
Hi yes Im in Leeds. Usually I have experienced excellent service with good waiting times. I think the long wait this time could be to do with the surgeon wanting me to see plastics before we decide what to do. Xx
