Hello everyone
I’m Starting weekly paclitaxel in a couple of weeks after a horrendous time on EC. But I somehow managed to complete the 3! So I’m chuffed with that!
I’m now blocking out the EC and focussing on the next 12 weeks of pac. Does any one have any advice or patterns of how it went for them on weekly pac, or anyone stating it soon like me x
Hi.
I had 4x EC and plan was 4 Docetaxil, every 3 weeks. The first Docetaxil didn’t go well and instead of having any more I got moved to weekly Pacitaxil. What a difference. For me, I have virtually no side effects, apart from the first night when I struggle to sleep because of the steroids. A few aches and pains, and slight dicky tummy, but really much easier than EC. I am 3 in with 6 to go
I’ve just finished 12 weekly paclitaxel (with 3 weekly immuno and carboplatin added in). Of course, everyone is different, but the weeks I had only paclitaxel I felt fine. Didn’t use my anti-sickness meds. I cold capped and although I’m shedding hair noone can tell I’ve lost any. Hopefully you find it much more positive than EC. Good luck! X
I had 4xEC and 12 x paclitaxel so similar to you. I got a bit tired on paclitaxel as I got near the end of the treatments but it was all doable. My hair started to grow back by week 5 of paclitaxel and I had enough energy and felt well enough to keep working and even started going to a tai chi class. My only annoying side effect was some nosebleeds but I am prone to nosebleeds anyway.
Of course everyone is different but I think your plan of putting the EC behind you and not just assuming that paclitaxel will be the same is a great mindset.
Really hoping all goes well❤️
Hi @stafford22
I had 12 weekly Paclitaxels and felt fine generally. The only real side effect I had was nosebleeds and red cheeks. I cold capped so didn’t lose any hair from my head but my eyebrows and lashes suffered a bit. I hope it goes well for you. Sending you a big hug
Fingers crossed, after bloods tomorow, I should start 9 weekly pac on thursday with 3 weekly carbo
Well done @stafford22 on completing EC.
I did 9 Pax after 3 ECs and found it a walk in the park. I suffered so badly from steroid withdrawal on EC. I was only a little bit fuzzy the day after on Pax… and I didn’t have to take any at home. I had a bit of a numb left foot - it aggravated some nerve damage I already had in that area but that was it. So, so much easier. I even worked (reduced hours) throughout and apart from no gym and avoiding others I pretty much had my pre chemo life back.
Good luck - hope it all goes well.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. This has reassured me. Hope you’re all doing ok x
Good luck for Thursday! We will soon be ticking off the weeks x
I was exactly the same after my first pac yesterday, I literally slept from 5am-7am! Then had a very flushed face all day. Must be the steroids x
