Had 1st EPI chemo on 2nd jan … 48hrs later was admitted to hospital with acute
pancreatitis, vomiting for three days and the pain was so bad thought I was gonna die. I see oncologist again on 21st Jan and will discuss all this with him,he came to see me on ward but because I was so ill obviously did’nt come up with any solutions at the time. I am going out of my mind with the fear of a reccurence. Due to have nxt chemo 23rd Jan but realise this may have to be put back a little.Anyone else had this ? If so was it dealt with so you could endure further chemo. Scared witless!!!

Hi Bobbie
Sorry you haven’t had any replies yet.
I’ve been much luckier than you with chemo side effects. Sounds like you have a had a really dreadful time.
Questions to ask your oncologist I think include:
- Are there any better sickness meds for me?
- Could you lower the dose of chemo?
- Could I change to a different chemo?
Plus: Why did this happen??
Also what advantage was it estimated that chemo would give you in the first place? For many people chemo only increases the chances of not getting a recurrence by a few percentage points. You might be someone for whom the side effects are simply not worth the treatment.
I hope you can get some answers which make sense. I hope if you have more chemo it is more manageable. Reading your post actually lifted me out of gloom…I’ve just had my 20th session and was feeling really sorrry for mysefl…but I’ve been ‘lucky’ never to have been sick on chemo and this time round not getting any nausea at all.
Take care.
