Hi Ladies,
Hayz, Glad to hear you sounding so good. Do hope the rads are doing their job, sounds like they are.
I have only 6 more rads to go. The journey round the M25 is really getting to me especially when the traffic was horrendous yesterday. Luckily my OH knows the back roads well and we can get around the jams. I will be very glad when it is done. I had my first zap today without my little friend, the bag of wax. my skin is a little red already but not sore.
Tamoxifen is going well, the hot flushes aren’t too bad just rather warming which is ok this time of year but must be awful in the summer. I don’t think they were this intense when I was having them before. The only other SE I have is weeing all the time. I have to go every 5 minutes!! No aches and pains though thank goodness.
Kath I still blame everything on chemo head, it still works for me!!
Lulu stop poking and prodding, you’ll make it sore whatever it is!! Trouble is when you find something you can’t help keep touching it.
Well, hope you all have good weekend ladies, stop eating now to make room for all that chocolate that’s coming soon!!
Love to you all,
Jane xx
Hi Hayz and All,
First of all I am deffo looking forward to the party round yours Hazel…seriously though hope the last few boosters obliterate the nasty buggers, just keeping everything crossed for you.
OMG it seems a long while ago we were discussing the fact of not being able to drink enough and trying to find the right drink…I’m still like that now, 1 tea, 1 coffee and 2 glasses of squash or water and yes I think that it doesn’t help the headaches.
Yeh, had a bit of a scare with yet another lump they had found on ultrasound (other side) - just went to get one of my many cysts, a large one aspirated and they found another lump. I phoned the breast care nurse yesterday to get further reassurance - the consultant who is apparently very good, says that it is just a fibrotic lobular lump. They haven’t suggested biopsing it, so I just hope they are right. I have chilled a bit since then as I am sure they are 99.99% right, but there will always be a twinge of doubt in my mind. Just freaked me out at the time.
Tamoxifen fine for me too - glad you are ok on it too, that’s great.
Hooray - hair is growing back, slowly but surely and eyebrows and eyelashes too…Yay
Hope all goes well for the rest of your treatment. I would love to hear that the lumps have shrunk/disappeared and then I am first round at your party armed with a big bottle of champagne LOL!!
Take care one and all
Lynn xx
Hi all :0 Blimey you’ve been busy! Additional bumps wasn’t part of the plan now was it?
I’ve had a week away and thusly no Internet to speak of. I have my phone but it drives me nuts trying to write with it. Anyhow, can see that things are moving on a pace. I’m keeping everything crossed that you two lovelies are in the clear with your extra bits. Can’t imagine how I’d feel if I found another!
I go back to work on April 6th, and this time properly. Will be good but scary too.
It’s amazing to think how far we’ve come isn’t it…bloomin incredible. I’ve a colleague whose about to start chemo and really hope she’ll let me give her some pointers - particularly this web site. I know I could have done with some tips before starting. Fingers crossed. I kinda freaked out a bit when I heard she was having chemo…it kept me awake for ages thinking back to where we’ve come from and all that we’ve endured. You were all amazing and without any shadow of a doubt you helped me to get through it.
OK important stuff now…dinner. Will be back soon - big hug in the meantime ;0
Lotsalove to you all

PS:
Anyone noticed any fluffage on the cheeks? Apparently it can be a side effect of Tamoxifen…OMG I’m getting a bloomin beard! It’s only light and downy, but nonetheless I know its there - arrrrrrrrghhhh one extreme to the other!
Yeh Loocie
I tweezed enough to stuff a pillow a while back…all fluffy & downy it was!!
It doesn’t last!!.. mine isn’t as mad now!! LOL
Hxx
Loocie its also a side effect of hair growth after chemo (also of PCOS)… never heard of it from the tamoxifen, quite the opposite infact that it sometimes causes hair loss… wonder if people put it down to tamoxifen because they start it when they finish chemo?
anyway i have had furry face since my hair started growing in, which was probably about october when i was cmf and its just started getting less fluffy now… been on tamoxifen about 2 months.
Lxx
LOl - tis a bit mad isn’t it? I have to admit I googled it, but the information came from several cancer related web sites and a general hospital. Just as long as I don’t end up like captain Birdseye I don’t mind!
LOL!
I had the fluffage before I started Tamoxifen…just as my hair was starting to sprout!
It’s all gone now thank Goodness…I was really worried I was gonna have to start shaving! PMSL
Hxx
Hi girls,
Yes, I’m a bit fluffy too!!! Noticed quite a bit of it around my chin area. As mine is whiteish I’m not going to do too much. A few stray dark ones have appeared and they were tweezered straight away!! My bonse is progressing nicely but again white, I was hoping it would forget I went grey early and come back brunette. No such luck!! Still its coming back thats the main thing. My eyebrows are def coming back but no sight of eye lashes yet.
Just when I thought I was getting back to normal my 21 year old daughter has now found a lump in her boob and the doctor found one in her armpit. So she is now going to have to go through all the tests I had. I can’t believe it. I’m sure it will be nothing serious at her age but it has to be checked. Still, I am now worrying about her. The doctor said the lump has grown in two weeks since she saw her and thinks it moves about. Anyone got any ideas??
Love to you all,
Jane xx
Hey Jane
I’m really sorry to hear about your Daughter. It’s awful going thru this ourselves, but the waiting must be 100 times worse when it’s your little girl!
I hope they get all the tests done quickly & it turns out to be nothing!
Let us know how she gets on.
Hxxx
jane i can totally empathise with you as have just been through something similar with my 19 yr old who the GP though had pagets disease but turned out to be eczema… fingers crossed your daughters lumps are nothing sinister too.
my hair started growing in more grey than it was before but its actually starting to turn darker at the roots now… so you never know your might go darker too.
Lxx
Jane ,its good your daughter is geting checked out.I had the same at about 20 (25 years ago!) I found a lump under my arm and my GP found a lump in my breast.PANIC! But the breast lump was a fibroadenoma and the underarm lump was just extra breast tissue that was reacting to my hormones.Hope your daughter has similar news.

Hi girls,
Hayz, Lulu and Dot, thank you for your replies, I’ve just been looking up different lumps and fibroadenoma was one I saw often appears with girls in their twenties. I was a bit upset that she was being referred on to the breast clinic to start with hoping the doctor would give her the ok but really it is better to have it checked properly. She already has her appt for Mon 12th so not too long to wait. I just hate to think of her going through all the tests at her age.
Love to you all,
Jane xx
Hi Jane, wow, this must be a very anxious time for you, but…she’s being checked out. I have really tried to get across to my girl friends is that a) they should get to know their boobs so that they can tell if there are any changes, and b) if they find something, do something. I really hope that your daughter is clear and that she doesn’t have to take part in the mad world we are just emerging from.
A colleague of mine is about to embark on chemo (not sure whether it is FEC or FEC and Tax) and although I have text her and offered her the benefit of my experience, she hasn’t come back to me. Strangely enough I’m finding this really hard to come to terms with (not like me at all). I know she’ll contact me if and when she is ready to, but I really want to pass on some of the gems we discovered along the way, as they really did help. I guess I hate the thought of anyone having to deal with chemo and want to protect her? All a bit strange I have to say!
Muchly love for now - off to find some space in my study room as it has become a dumping ground for the last nine months! Yuk…maybe I’ll go in about ten minutes

Hi all
Have been on other threads so not written to this one for a while but have been reading your comments to see how you all are.
I’m so glad most of you have either finished or are nearing the end of your treatment. Your postings have been a great help to me along the way even though it means I may join the Furry Face club in due course.LOL
I have just had 1st Tax and I found it a lot worse than FEC but I expect it’s my body just having to get used to the new mixture. Maybe 2nd and 3rd won’t be so bad.
Loocie good luck with going back to work next week. Hope your colleague does ask for advice as there is nothing more helpful than experience eh?
Jane I do hope your daughter gets sorted quickly and that that it’s nothing horrible. You must be worried sick.
Hayz - Glad you are getting through treatment okay and let’s hope all the extra nasties are blasted to hell.
Happy Easter to all
Lots of Love Babs xx
HI All
I’m back again - had two weeks away on deployment with the Royal Naval Reserve - my first stab at full time work since treatment ended. Was very nervous but it was fine, and apart from being tired due to being on my feet all day on a ship on the moving sea things have been fine. Also the cold weather and being out in it all day meant the hot flushes disappeared - hoooray! Unfortunately coming back home means they have not so much returned but are more warm flushes - must be something in the home air.
Anyway, glad you are all doing well. How are people finding life returning to normal?
Helen.
Hi everyone, Hayz hope things are going OK for you I know drinking is a bugger I buy juices and dilute with water just to get something different I’ve got lime juice at the moment it’s quite refreshing, chicken oxo is nice as a hot drink, keep on trying.
Jane how’s your daughter I can’t believe how life keeps throwing these things at us please God she’ll be OK and keep well yourself.
Loocie starting work, well done hope everything goes well.
Helen hope your OK and got your land legs back.
Lynn hope it’s a benign lump again we could all do with a break from this horrible time.
Lulu hope your lumpy bit is just that!
I’ve just spent Easter in hospital made a change from the house, mind you I was in isolation as my immune system was down due to heavy a dose of chemo, my next chemo 12th april will be reduced and I’ll have a jab to protect against it happening again,so fingers crossed. hope rest of you OK. sorry such a ramble. Love Kath XX
Hi girls,
Thank you all for your kind comments about my daughter. I am going with her to the hospital on Monday so will know more then. At the moment she is more concerned about a huge infected boil on her bum!!! I’ve never seen anything like it. Her dads done all the possible jokes and we have had a laugh about it but I don’t think she shares our sense of humour at the moment. Can’t think why?? She is now on antibiotics so hopefully it will feel better in the next 48 hours. Probably come up due to stress at the moment.
Kath, you poor thing, Easter in hospital. Hope you are feeling much better now. I think I was so lucky on chemo. I had minor S.E’s compared to a lot of the girls here.
Helen, well done you, sounds a bit scary. My sister left the WRENs many years ago and I don’t think it was allowed then for ladies to be on board ship at sea. Was it considered unlucky, can’t remember now. An old superstition I’m sure.
Loocie you’re back working too, I’m working when I feel like it but I’m lucky because I only work when I want to and I either do it at home or only a few miles away. Not really hard.
I finished Rads today YAY!!! No more M25 for a while thank goodness. My skin is holding up well and I am just a little sore. Hopefully it won’t get any worse. No more hospital (for me) until May when I am back to see my Onc and June to see breast clinic. Can’t believe it is a year next month since my diagnosis. Doesn’t time fly when you are having sooo much fun!!
Hope everyone is keeping well,
Love to you all,
Jane xx
Bless her boil; must be very uncomfortable. Really hope she gets on OK on Monday - fingers crossed for you
Love your idea that the last year has been fun…hee hee hee hee! Maybe not
Congrats on finishing rads, it’s such a lovely feeling isn’t it? It’s taken a few weeks, but I really think I’m starting to feel more normal - although fatigue is always lurking round the corner. I’m working 0900 - 1300 (even though it’s only 3 days so far, it’s great to be back) so at least can get a bit of a kip in the afternoon. I’m sleeping better at night too, which is a real bonus.
Off to see the onc on wednesday for a chat and check up. My right ‘bubbly’ ribs are really uncomfortable, so am hoping he’ll at least take a good look and give me an opinion on what it might be.
Sitting in the warm sunshine typing this, and it is heaven…might eek out the part time working until late autumn
Lotsalove to you all for now

OOOoooo long time no see ladies…spose have been ‘getting on with life’ - which is a good thing. Have therefore missed a few posts.
Jane - really keeping fingers crossed for your daughter on Monday. And congrats on finishing Rads.
Loocie and Helen - well done re getting back to work. Loocie - what the hell is this ‘bubbly’ rib thingy??
Kath - you poor thing. Hopefully the dose reduction and jabs will help next time. Are you almost finished chemo now?
Babs - hope the 2nd Tax is better than the first for you.
Hayz - how are you doing at the mo? You must of finished your extra rads by now? Hooray!!
I’m generally ok, getting back on track. Worst thing after chemo in particular has been the temperature changes - I am either sweating buckets or feeling chilled, really horrible and I know there’s not much I can do about it so I had better stop whingeing now!!
Work not being very empathetic re holidays etc…long story, have felt extra emotional about it and starting to think I don’t need any added stress so may have to start looking for a new job…mmmmm quite tricky in this current climate!!
Well I’ll be back to check on your daughter’s news Jane, fingers crossed.
Lynn xx
