Hi I have my 1st EC cycle on 12th. I understand that there will be side effects but what actually happens in the 1st 24hrs after chemo? Is taste loss, sickness etc immediate or does it take time?
Hi Pajr… I hope everything goes well…its very difficult to say how an individualwill react after chemo…sometimes you just have to wait and see…i had 4 EC ( 2 weekly) and I didn’t have any side effects with EC apart from mouth ulcers ( I suffered more with paclitaxol) …but your team will be on hand to make sure you have everything prescribed to combat any possible side effects… so I would take whatever meds they advise…hope you get thru it relatively lightly … I’m guessing you will have filgrastim injections to take ? …I was ok doing these as I already self injected a blood thinner daily due to having a blood clot…but some people struggle with these at first and also get pains after them…I didn’t…but again you just can’t call it until you get to that point yourself…take good care
had my first on the 2nd, mine is AC tho, but in the first 24 hours i felt ok, and 48 not bad bit fuzzy, tiredish, had good anti nausea meds, but must say day 3-5 was bleh, fuzzy, loss of taste, took some extra anti nausea tabs, and struggled through the blehs.
tried kombucha, not much flavour, bought pickled beets, pineapple, ginger ale bleh.
also some weird pains, but i assume it the cocktail attacking bad cells (i hope) now day 7 not bad, still a tad bleh, but ice cream good and chocolate still nice
