1st post diagnosed today.

me too love. I am shell shocked and with Christmas nearly here everything is closing down so don’t begin discussions until 5/1. Don’t know what to say to you, except I totally understand.
love K

Ahh thank you ladies.

Its a whirl wind to say the least for everyone. I came back yesterday from seeing Surgeon, who wants to see me on again 3rd and Operation on 6th of Jan!

Dont suppose anyone knows or has been involved with the QUEST trial B ??

I understand it’s optional and personal re what route i take. MX is bad enough but choosing the correct recon or the right one for me is hard ( at least i have a little time to consider all options )confused.com

Anyway as we are all busy busy ladies, especially at this time of year I would like to wish you all my very warm best wishes over this festive period and may all our futures be bright!

Hi bicardicat

The trial is a quality of life trial so it’s about your thoughts a feelings… Here’s some info…

Thanks Lulu.

Did you do this?

you see i like the sound of one route but what if im chosen on other route and all the pros and cons of the diff method of recon but then i can opt out and feel guilty as i would like to help for future studies but i also want to be well and come out with the least ops its so confusing

Iv not had a mastectomy so wasn’t in this trial… But have taken part in other quality of life trials for experiences of having breast cancer.

Thanks lulu

love your pic by the way oh and the hair.

its still early days so need to digest more swaying more to letting fate take the lead and what will be will be

Have a good one

Hi Fran, TTM, Lulu and everyone else.

Tomorrow at 10.00 is results day! I am soooooo nervous about getting my plan from the consultant. I hope I do see the consultant and not the locum that I saw before.

Wish me luck :frowning:

I’m here at the lovely spire waiting for the op.
Good luck di hope you get all your news today
Love fran xx

Hi Lulu and TTM

There are so many threads on here I’m confused. I’ve just posted on “Newly diagnosed with breast cancer” thread. Good news today though, the cancer hasn’t spread anywhere else. Signed on the dotted line this morning after a long and excellent discussion with my consultant who was wonderful!

Mx on 12th January, followed by chemo, rads and antibody (I think) treatment. Looking at 18 months of treatment, then I’m def going for reconstruction. but I’ll take that when it comes.
Thanks for your thoughts ladies. Going out now for a meal with my OH and daughters No 1 and 2!
Love and virtual hugs,
Di

Hi Ladies,
Haven’t posted on here for a while. Was diagnosed 24 th November and still waiting! Yesterday got result from SN biopsy, have got involvement so have to have full axilla clearance so they have pencilled me in for 18th Jan to have mastectomy, axilla clearance and hopefully reconstruction. Will see surgeon on Tuesday.
Everytime I go to the hospital I feel they give me bad news.
They thought my lymph nodes were clear from ultrasound so I was shocked and very upset to find there was cancer there.
I am terrified of having Lymphodema and all that.
I do realize though, that the prority is to live and I can put up with everything that goes with it, like fat arms!

Bicardicat I have been asked to participate in the Quest trials, but think I will be doing Quest 1. which is the back flap without implant or back flap with the implant. But waiting to find out today from Oncologist whether I need radiotherapy
However if I need radiotherapy I would need to do Quest 2 which is immediate reconstruction or delayed recconstruction. Because I want immediate reconstruction I will not do that trial. Think I have got that right. I have a brilliant Breast nurse who tells me everything I want to know and is so supportive.
I now after last nights news am trying to get my head round my lymph nodes, I found it bad enough being triple negative. I just think its all doom and gloom.
I am ususally very strong and positive but this is all so difficult to cope with.
I haven’t worked since 17th November and can really only take a year off. so only 10 months left to fit everything in! so more worries.

love & hugs to everyone
Jayne

Di good luck with your surgery in January.

Fran I hope all has gone well for you.

Melinda with regard to lymphoedema I think after a clearance the risk is around 30% but that means 70% chance you wont get it… Also its not an instantaneous thing… We all get a bit of post op swelling which subsides but with LO it can appear at any time the average is about three years post op but they aren’t quite sure why that is… Maybe people become a little bit complacent by then and forget to take extra care so carry heavy shopping, forget to do exercises or dont wear gloves doing the gardening… Somethings though aren’t preventable Eg getting a bite or sting off an insect… But do just try to take care and minimise your risk… And to put it into perspective LO isn’t life threatening just restrictive and inconvenient.

Take care ladies xxx

Hi jayne ( melinda287)

I too feel a bit like you, everytime i go to the hospital there’s a little more bad news. What began as @we found it early’ has slowly got worse. I had my Op on 29th nove (WLE with bust reduction at the same time and sentinel node) They thought my lymph nodes were clear also, but when i went back after my Op I was told that there was cancer there too, as he began to talk i knew that i would need more surgery. Mine is booked for 5th jan (FAC) Im worried about lymphodema as I am left handed ( Its all on my left side). i have done my exercises from the first Op and hope that this will help.
Good Luck to you all. And hears to a Positive new year

Hello ladies,
I thought I’d posted on other threads I can keep track of them all. Just done one about my boob being itchy and armpit sore.
I’m doing really well the op went well. I am supposed to go on the 10th for my results but not sure if they will be back by then as consultant said would take 2 and a bit weeks.
I’ve had a bit of rest Oh has been looking after me but decided on the 1st after being in the house for 3 days I had to get out. I went to sainsburys with my youngest then to my cousins with both children later on.
Today I went to the cinema with my son as he has been doing well with his sleeping and not making a fuss and I was lovely to spend time with him.
Tom my daughter Isla starts nursery for a full day and back to school for Max. So I’m going to watch my tv I missed over xmas.
I’m having my dressing off on thurs so that might help with the itching…
Now back to the waiting for results and hope I don’t need another op.
Thanks for caring.
Love Fran xx
