2 Microcalcifications found but only 1 biopsied

Hi everyone

Hope everyone is well or as well as they can be.

Thank you to everyone that reached out in my last posts.

I have been on here before, but today I had all my results from the biopsy and the magnified mammogram done online. I had a vacuum biopsy done and the results were M3 meaning they were indeterminate. However, on my report online it states there was another cluster of microcalcifications, which the consultant did not mention to me when she said my results.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so any advice or suggestions as I am very confused. I should be grateful the 1st cluster was benign, but I am worried it will keep growing and I will not be able to feel anything till it does turn cancerous. Am I being paranoid?

Love

Hi Dee, it might be worth ringing your breast unit and asking if they could explain why they didn’t biopsy the other calcifications ? Hopefully they can put your mind at rest ?

Hi there

I’ve been trying all morning to get hold of someone, but no one is able to help me. Is this usual to happen when only one is biopsied?

I have no idea and am worrying as my mum had breast cancer and it was hidden deep within the breast so she could not feel anything.

Thank you for reaching out.

My breast nurse told me that having benign micro calcifications was quite common , I had some show on mammograms post diagnosis and I was concerned . She said they look different to ones that may turn into breast cancer - something to do with their shape ? Maybe get some info by asking about this in the Ask our Nurses your questions section of the forum ?

My main concern is that no doctor explained that there were 2 clusters and only one was biopsied. I am worrying and probably nothing, but I have read that one can be benign and one can be malignant.

You are entitled to get an explanation from someone who has seen your mammogram if you are worried . Keep trying to get hold of someone who can explain . If you can’t maybe message your GP and see if they are able to get that info for you ?
